Senior Accountant LOCATION: Barcelona
REPORTS TO: Chief Accountant Spain
JOB PURPOSE: To provide accurate and timely recording, classification and reporting of accounting transactions. There will be an emphasis on reconciliations, controls, reporting results and recording of routine and non-routine transactions. This is a Senior Financial Accountant role that requires an understanding of multiple international entities, matrix structures and multiple statutory impacts, a solid tax expertise (VAT, local taxes...). In addition, the role will require ad hoc analysis and reporting requests.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead accounting with expertise for all of the following critical and sensitive ADP processes: Cash accounting, cash forecasting, Local taxes, ASC842 – local & USGAAP Leases, ASC606 – local & USGAAP Revenue recognition, Intercompany variance management, HR specific asks regarding advances, severance, garnishment. Maintain ADP in compliance with all of its mandatory VAT obligations, ensure accuracy and completeness of supporting data, apply judgement and experience on assessing appropriateness of VAT treatments for submitted transactions. Oversight and guidance for the Indian based AP team regarding booking accuracy, system management, tax compliance, and payments timeliness. Own the day-to-day relationship with the bank regarding access management, payment execution, and allowed overdraft. Post journals based on well-prepared support and present such support for scrutiny to management and auditors. Perform Balance Sheet reconciliations to a high level with strong support and reasoning. Prepare and submit audit information to a professional standard. Understand and work with the differences between US GAAP and Spanish GAAP. Take on key projects for Spain such as Cash Management Oracle Module accounting automation, Prepayment accounting automation, and Cost accounting alignment. Assist the Spain Chief Accountant with process and controls improvements. Build close working relationships with the rest of the Spanish Finance team as well as auditors. Work across the organisation's matrix structure, providing support to those that need it and obtaining information when it is required. Strive for continuous process improvements. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: The role currently has no management responsibilities besides the oversight of the Indian AP team.

Subject matter expert for accounting standards and statutory accounting.
