Context And MissionThe Department of Earth Sciences of BSC is one of the most active groups in air quality and atmospheric composition modeling in Europe. The candidate will work in the Earth System Services (ESS) group, developing climate and air quality services. The ESS is looking for a Junior Researcher to apply AI methods to Air Quality Services.
Key DutiesApply classification and regression algorithms to relate socioeconomic variables with air pollution patterns.Multidisciplinary research, working with scientists and IT developers.Analyze and evaluate model results against observations; create graphs and reports. RequirementsEducation: Last year of graduation in AI degree or related disciplines.Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience:Previous experience working with air quality data.Experience with AI methods in R (or Python).Ability to work in a professional environment and in a multidisciplinary research team.Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience:Experience in model development and application in parallel computing environments is valued.Demonstrated verbal communication and technical presentation skills.Fluency in English.Competences:Fluency in other European languages is valued. ConditionsThe position will be located at BSC within the Earth Sciences Department.We offer a full-time contract (37.5h/week), a good working environment, flexible working hours, extensive training plan, and private health insurance.Duration: Open-ended contract due to technical and scientific activities linked to the project and budget duration.Holidays: 23 paid vacation days plus 24th and 31st of December.Salary: competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.Starting date: 01/12/2024.
