This also includes repairs on light and heavy-duty vehicles such as buses, truck and semi-trailer combinations, forklifts, and wrecker/recovery vehicles.Roles and ResponsibilitiesSupervise day-to-day maintenance operations on Government War Readiness Material (WRM) vehicles and equipment, including Quality Assurance practices to ensure all vehicles are returned to service in safe and serviceable condition.Perform minor and major maintenance on Government Vehicles (GOVs), and complete vehicle work order request forms according to Air Force instructions (AFI).Inspect and repair military, industrial, and commercial designed base maintenance, material handling, special purpose, general purpose vehicles.Determine the general condition of Government vehicles and perform Limited Technical Inspections (LTIs).Diagnose unusual noises, road test, and operate vehicles to test components.Remove, disassemble, repair and replace components, assemblies, and subassemblies, and reinstall as required to maintain vehicles in safe operating conditions.Perform functional tests and repairs on water and fuel pumping systems, cable and hydraulic lifting equipment, forklifts, towing equipment, gasoline, and diesel-powered engines.Make operational adjustments on drag brakes, relief valves, operating chains, lift cylinders, clutches, transmissions, brakes, and engine components.Perform lubrication, oil, and filter changes on Government fleet vehicles and equipment.Perform minor corrosion control repairs detected during safety, scheduled, and unscheduled inspections.Perform collateral duties associated with vehicle maintenance practices, including administrative processes such as vehicle work order and parts request forms.Perform simple tasks using a computer and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Outlook.Perform motor vehicle preventative maintenance checks and inspections on various Air Force vehicles.Complete administrative work order and parts request forms to complete maintenance actions and request parts for Military vehicles.Basic QualificationsMust be certified as a vehicle mechanic and in mechanical systems
