Warehousing, Storage & Distribution (Manufacturing, Transport & Logistics) People Who Care is a not-for-profit organisation with over 42 years of service. We partner to provide support to older people, those with a disability, or people who are facing a social crisis. This role is situated at People Who Care's Starting Over Support (SOS) warehouse. The SOS team sources and provides household goods to those who have become homeless due to family or domestic violence, domestic disruption, or who are transitioning into independent accommodation. As a Truck Driver / Warehouse Assistant, you will collect donated goods and furniture and transport them to the SOS Warehouse, with the assistance of an off-sider (Truck Assistant). You will also deliver goods that have been assessed, cleaned, sorted, and packaged by our warehouse teams to crisis families and individuals. You will be required to ensure furniture items are stored in their relevant zones in a safe, clean, and tidy manner, assist with stock control, whilst working with staff and volunteers. Permanent Part-time – Monday and Tuesday – 7.6 hours each day (8am – 4pm) Base rate – $32.00 per hour Primary responsibilities: Ensure all journey plans are recorded correctly and accurately carried out. Safely operate a company truck (4.5 tonne) for deliveries and pickups of furniture and homewares. Loading and unloading furniture and other items, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage. Navigate to various locations efficiently and adhere to scheduled delivery times. Provide excellent customer service during pickups and deliveries, addressing any customer concerns professionally. Interact with the people who are donating and receiving goods in a manner that demonstrates empathy and respect for all people. Participate in the support and training of new volunteers. What you will need: A kind, caring, and respectful approach to service provision. Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively in both a team environment and independently with minimal supervision. Ability to work with individuals from a range of social, financial, and cultural backgrounds. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Current driver's licence (WA C Class). Current national police check (not older than 6 months). Prior experience in a similar role (i.E., in a warehouse and/or driving a truck). Sound Manual Handling skills.
