Job DescriptionTo perform routine skilled work in the operation of motor trucks and light duty motor equipment.
The qualified applicant's job duties are to be performed keeping safety as a primary objective and following established GMP, Safety and Stratas Foods procedures and policies.
Responsibilities The CDL A Driver is responsible for delivering full trailer loads of 20 plus pallets to Stratas Foods customers throughout the Northeast.
The driver will return home every night within a 250-mile radius.
Minimal handling of product is required - electric jacks are used to move freight.
The work week is Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends.Operates truck, light warehouse equipment, and light or medium-sized snow removal equipment to meet delivery schedules or to perform needed cleanup or removal tasks.Sorts and packs materials to be delivered on various routes.Hauls a variety of supplies and equipment and picks up and properly disposes of trash and hazardous materials.Prepares and maintains appropriate paperwork and records related to shipment of deliveries.Services vehicles by performing oil and filter changes, lubrications, minor repairs, and occasional checks to ensure compliance with state regulations.Maintains vehicle and equipment operational records.Performs manual work in loading and unloading van or truck and in working on other assigned projects when not operating equipment.Requires obtaining and exchanging information, referring inquiries to the appropriate source, or responding to questions regarding shipments.Knowledge of state laws pertaining to the operation of equipment on highways.QualificationsEducation: High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent.
Must possess a valid CDL Class A New Jersey driver's license.
The job is performed in both a standard office and manufacturing plant environment.
Exposure to loud noises, dust, dirt, heat, sparks, oil, and smoke may occur.
Personal protective equipment (safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, appropriate clothing, hard hat) is required in manufacturing plants.
Activities include extended periods of sitting and standing.
3 – 5 years' experience in operating motor driven equipment.Knowledge of the principles of operation of motor equipment sufficient to detect defective operation.Clean driving record - must have an updated MVR.Updated DOT Physical card.Able to pass a road test.Knowledge of the North East Region.Knowledge of the food service industry is a plus.Ability to drive either manual or automatic transmissions.Drive new updated equipment.Starting time varies based on location being delivered.Additional InformationPhysical: Sitting/Walking/Climbing as required in a manufacturing environment.
On your feet for most of the shift with occasional lifting, climbing stairs and ladders including rail cars and trucks.
The employee will also be required to use hands, arms, and fingers.
The physical requirements include the ability to lift 50 pounds, climb stairs, lift, bend, kneel, stand for long periods of time, work in small spaces, and work with heights.
Sensory: Good listening skills; public speaking abilities to communicate with both hourly and salaried personnel.
Along with the listening skills, you must be able to determine the purpose of what you're listening to and prioritize accordingly.
Ability to perform sensory testing on in-process and finished product samples, and must be able to distinguish issues from taste, smell, or sight of the product.
Mental/Reasoning: Organizational; decision-making ability; multi-tasking; must have strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to accommodate a quick-paced environment (a quick thinker).
