CHEMICALS PRODUCTS FLEET TRADER EUROPEMissionThe main purpose of this position is to act as specialist negotiator between ship owners/ship brokers and internal clients to arrange ocean transport of goods and commodities by sea on behalf of his internal client, looking also to maximize the employment of owned vessel. The job demands someone who is focused and able to closely monitor the market as increasingly; chartering traders are also used for providing their clients with market intelligence and advice.
The candidate for this position is responsible for all imports and exports of chemical products originating in Europe, mainly linked to the logistics of our refineries in Spain. The main products worked with are Bios, chemicals (MTBE, ETBE, Methanol) and CPP transported in small carrier. Ship management at TC is very important in this position since we cover most of these positions with our fleet. On the other hand, when arbitrages are open, the position will support physical traders in exports from Europe in the chemical and oil part. Knowledge and management of regulations related to emissions in maritime transport.
FunctionsTypical responsibilities of this position would involve marketing of tonnage (ships) to customers/ charterers. Negotiate spot/time charters to achieve maximum income for Repsol own fleet.He/she would be involved in many stages of setting up and negotiating deals, including proposing the business to internal clients and managers, negotiating the main terms of a contract or sale and seeing it through to its conclusion and any follow up that may be involved.Like any role that involves buying and selling, a good chartering trader would keep a close eye on the shipping market, interpreting trends (fundamental and technical analysis) and seeing opportunities for own fleet and internal clients.Management of CPP/Chemicals cargoes loading in Europe (through spot, coa or TC).Knowledge on derivate market (FFA, EUAs).RequirementsThe ideal candidate would hold a commercial degree or similar commercial recognized qualification; a Maritime or Engineer qualification will be positively evaluated.Expertise in chartering of tankers/gas and logistics flows required. Products or chemical tankers prior experience will also be most valued.Background in shipping, owners or broker's experience preferred.Client management/relationship building skills.Previous Trading Experience with clean/dirty/products/oil/LNG would be valued.Ability to negotiate is vital, as this is a principal skill requirement in a chartering trader.Good understanding of accounting and numeracy skills are essential to this job.Knowledge Strategy design and risk management for the chartering side.Team play skills are a must in this position.Ability to use Microsoft office, ie Word, Excel.Job posting end date:
