We are looking for an Accessibility Lead for our B2B Products to focus on building our accessibility practice, ensuring that accessibility is integrated into the UX process from concept to delivery. The role will help support B2B Products via a design system, so a fluency in development and design, a passion for code and UX, and a solid understanding of usability concerns is key.
This role will also support our Dow Jones Accessibility Working Group, coordinating accessibility work and efforts across the B2B group and our Experience group. As part of the Customer Experience team, you will be responsible for integrating accessibility holistically within our digital projects for our range of B2B products including Factiva, Risk & Compliance, and Newswires.
In this role, you will define best practices and guidelines, partner with product development and research teams to understand the needs of our users with disabilities, and collaborate with designers and developers to create scalable and accessible solutions. This role will report to the Head of Design Operations.
Responsibilities Contribute to initiatives to inform and educate on the importance of and best practices for digital accessibility. Incorporate accessibility standards and best practices into the work of the digital team. Coordinate with 3rd party vendors on accessibility as required, including evaluation and remediation. Create and maintain documentation concerning accessibility standards and best practices. Create and maintain digital compliance documentation including Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPATs). Write accessibility use cases and detailed requirements. Review UX concepts and deliverables to ensure accessibility compliance. Conduct QA for accessibility and work with the larger team on solutions, identifying and clearly documenting accessibility issues and remediation recommendations. Provide direction for UX patterns included in the design system. Ensure that the design system contains only core palettes, font selections/scales, and UI elements that comply with accessibility standards. Ensure that accessibility is a consideration for design system themes and components across platforms: web, mobile, native. Partner with product development and research teams to understand the needs of our users with disabilities. Assist in designing and conducting user research and testing on accessibility issues. Oversee and assist consultants performing accessibility work when required. Conduct education and training sessions for the Experience team. Lead Experience's Accessibility Working Group. Serve as an educator for the larger organization. Connect with the larger community. Requirements Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. At least 6 years experience in defining requirements and testing. Expertise in WCAG and ARIA guidelines. Experience training UX designers, developers, and other partners in accessible design and implementation. Experience creating and maintaining guidelines for large teams. Experience conducting audits and writing VPATs for internal products and web-based products. Accessibility testing experience with screen readers including TalkBack (Android), VoiceOver (iOS), JAWS. Experience conducting or helping to design user research and testing focusing on accessibility issues. Great communication skills, especially in explaining accessibility concepts to a broad range of partners, and in collaboration with UX designers on approaches and with developers on implementation details. Highly detail-oriented and developed organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Proven ability to work both as part of a team in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment. Examples that demonstrate how you have contributed to creating accessible products, from concept to production. Preferred Skills/Certifications IAAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC). 1+ years experience working with an existing design system.
