We are looking for an R&D Scientist I to join our team in Spain!
Responsibilities: Designs and performs experiments with supervision from R&D Director.
Documents, represents, and communicates experimental results and conclusions to R&D Director. Tests product prototype performance and proposes optimization strategies.
Validates and benchmarks final product. Manages lab inventory and storage.
Performs/organizes periodical maintenance/calibration of R&D equipment. Supports QC and Customer departments with technical assistance. Follows proper waste disposal procedures. Ensures compliance with and/or follows all organizational systems, programs, training, policies, and procedures as required and complies with relevant legal mandates.
Seeks guidance as necessary. Actively supports and participates in the safety program, both for self-protection and the protection of other employees, by reading and abiding by all requirements in the Safety Manual and Injury Illness Prevention Program (IIPP). Carries out all responsibilities in an honest, ethical, and professional manner. Must be able to fulfill essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner. Handles various other duties as delegated by Manager. Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Immunology, or a related field required. Minimum of 3-15 years of lab experience and lateral flow technology OR Ph.D.
Degree in Biology or a related field. Minimum of 2-5 years of lab experience; fresh graduates will be considered if their research is closely related to the job experience requirements. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat required. Working knowledge of statistical methodologies, such as DOE, Bayesian, and Non-parametric analyses. Understanding of the development of immuno-based diagnostic assays in a commercial environment. Basic understanding of our customers and market. Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises lab technicians/assistants if any are incorporated.
Skills/Abilities: Must have manual dexterity for operation of equipment. Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication. Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment. Must be able to work in a team environment as a team member and assist other scientists as needed. Must work closely with other Scientists to provide scientific inputs related to company R&D. Must be able to pay close attention to details. Must be able to adapt and flex to a changing environment. Basic microbiology: aseptic technique, media prep, plating, dilutions. Ability to deliver training to staff. Contribute to and support department/corporate goals. Ability to deliver presentations to senior management. Must be able to lift/carry 20 pounds.
