The RoleThe Integrated Breeding Team Lead reports to the R&D Head of the Region and is an individual contributor leading the cucumber, melon, and watermelon Integrated Crop Teams in the Region EMEA South and the Global R&D Crop Communities for melon and watermelon.
Sets goals for the Integrated Breeding Teams and monitors Crop Strategy implementation in specified crops.Leads the Melon and Watermelon Global R&D Crop Communities towards their goals using technical and operational guidance, motivation, and inspiration.Leads Integrated Breeding Teams in the Region for cucumber, melon, and watermelon.Responsible for driving the Crop and Regional Tactical Plan process for the crops.Provides guidance to the Integrated Breeding Team to ensure efficient and effective implementation of technologies in breeding.Explores the current breeding schemes and identifies opportunities to improve.Drives the assessment of the Research Portfolio in specified crops and advises on changes and new research project proposals to R&D Lead Crop Strategy and R&D Head of Region.Drives the adoption and implementation of global crop and technology strategies within the framework of respective crops.As part of a Global Community of Integrated Breeding Team Leads, contributes to crop-specific and cross-crop Strategy Development in R&D technologies.RequirementsEducation: PhD level Science degree or equivalent through experience.
Work Experience: Established professional career in fields of Agronomy, Breeding, or Plant Biotechnology of at least 7 years.
Proven track record of success in multi-disciplinary project leadership.
Experience in multiple R&D functions and processes necessary to support new product development.
Understanding of crop business strategies and principles of value creation in the product and supply chain.
Competences: Leading partially virtual teams, drives innovation, entrepreneurial, driving for results, strong communication skills, collaboration and team player, stakeholder management and engagement, drives vision and purpose, strategic and analytical thinking.
Skills/Qualifications: Broad technical knowledge across disciplines and crops, project management skills and/or mindset, familiarity with information technology and its use to support business objectives and processes, cross-cultural and cross-functional work experiences, and ability to work effectively in multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environments.
Builds a culture of innovation; creates an environment that supports creativity and coaches people to spark innovation.
Required Communication Skills: Excellent communication in writing and verbally.
Leading teams through influencing skills, impact, and persuasiveness.
