The Role: Technical Sales Engineer - USAAs the client continues to expand their presence in North America, we have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Sales Engineer to join a team of innovative, performance-driven individuals with a shared commitment to delivering low-carbon energy solutions globally and achieving Net Zero.
We are seeking a Technical Sales Engineer to work closely within a US Sales team, providing commercially savvy technical expertise to support customer opportunities.
This role will involve collaboration with sales, product, and power systems teams, with a primary focus on developing global markets and supporting customers and sales teams in closing deals to achieve company revenue targets.
Responsibilities:
Sales Support & Customer Engagement: Assist the sales team throughout the sales process by providing technical and engineering expertise during customer meetings.Strategic Collaboration: Work closely with the sales team to develop and implement strategies that meet and exceed sales targets.Technical Presentations: Prepare and deliver compelling technical presentations and product demonstrations to customers, effectively communicating our product capabilities.Market Research & Competitor Intelligence: Conduct research and analysis to identify potential customers and understand their needs, capturing valuable competitor insights.Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with existing and prospective customers, fostering loyalty and long-term partnerships.Pain Point Discovery & Solution Advocacy: Identify early-stage customer pain points and demonstrate how our products address these issues through validated business cases.Objection Handling & Feedback: Address customer technical objections and concerns, providing feedback to marketing, sales, and product teams to support continuous improvement.Solution Advising: Assist the Sales and Product Teams in exploring technical options to address specific customer pain points.Commitment to Customer Success: Maintain a customer-centric approach, ensuring all commitments and actions are consistently upheld.Industry Knowledge & Knowledge Sharing: Continuously expand knowledge of industry standards, market trends, and our product portfolio.Service Demonstrations & Software Trials: Conduct impactful service demonstrations, both on-site and virtually, at customer locations, webinars, and industry events.Industry Representation: Represent at industry events and trade shows, presenting technology and enhancing brand recognition.Bid Support & Technical Proposal Development: Contribute to bid activities, supporting responses to technical requirements.Cross-Functional Communication: Serve as a key communicator between Sales, Product, and Power Systems Teams.Travel: This role will require regular travel across the US. ExperienceEducation & Experience: Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems, with 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of power system challenges related to the transition to net zero.
Power System Modelling Expertise: Proficient in power system modelling and dynamic simulations using tools such as DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD, and PSS/e.
Targeted Communication: Skilled at adapting impactful messaging for different organisational roles.
Commercial Acumen: Strong understanding of sales governance, budgeting processes, and commercial negotiation strategies.
Smart Grid Knowledge: Familiar with smart grid technologies in DSO and TSO environments.
Interpersonal & Presentation Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, with an engaging style in both presentations and written communications.
Problem Solving & Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop strategic, creative solutions to overcome customer challenges.
Customer-Focused Solutions: Able to leverage technical expertise to deliver customer-centric solutions.
Technical Proficiency: Competent user of MS Office and CRM software (e.g., Salesforce).
Professionalism & Positivity: Maintains a professional and proactive attitude.
