Job Description Summary : The position Technical Leader - Intellectual property (IP Technical Leader) is part of the OFW Engineering Program Management & Regulatory Compliance engineering team and has basically three key missions:Ensure the OFW Engineering team produces high quality Inventions that are subsequently turned into Patent filings (Protect GE Offshore investments in technology & allow GE Offshore to have a competitive advantage).Ensure the OFW Engineering team´s designs do not infringe competition OEM patents (i.E., GE Offshore Wind respects other OEM´s IP already patented).Monitor if competition OEM´s potentially infringe GE Offshore patent(s) and initiate required action.The key KPI´s that the IP technical leader owns for the business are creation of Inventions (IDF´s) as well as first patent filings.
The IP technical leader pro-actively motivates and trains the global OFW engineering teams to meet or exceed these KPI´s year over year, and is IP engineering process owner.

The Haliade-X was the industry's first 14MW offshore wind turbine to operate and is the only 12+MW offshore wind turbine platform that has been operating for over two years, specifically at its Rotterdam prototype site.Roles and Responsibilities :Providing work direction to global IP Eng team (residing in ONW organization) for OFW IP engineering scope (e.G., Sub Patent evaluation boards, Specialized IP engineers in specific technical areas, and ensure quality and on-time deliverables).Own and maintain metrics and KPI about IDF processing, FTO clearance of programs, surveillance of critical patents and oppositions and initiate corrections and changes where needed.Mentor and inspire the overall OFW Engineering team around technical and legal knowledge to ensure sustainable team success that is setup for growth in the IP space.Seek, motivate for and own quality improvements and simplifications continuously.Highlight critical situations to Management and IP Counsel as appropriate and drive for solution with appropriate communication while keeping privilege concept when needed.Actively engage as backup for Global Functional Manager, particularly on own workload management topics and ensuring ONW IP engineering capacity is sufficient to support OFW IP activities.Use patent search tools and databases, like DerwentInnovation, USPTO PAIR, EPOline, etc.Perform IP clearance programs on assigned technical developments (DTO / NPI / NTI / RCA) and ensure freedom to operate, in cooperation with OFW Engineering team, global ONW IP engineering team and IP counsel.Follow up with technical experts and IP counsel on potential patents of concern, track assigned patent families with regards to changes in claims and relevance for own developments or products.Search for published prior art regarding special topics of patent literature in order to prepare oppositions in close cooperation with technical experts and IP counsel.Support internal or external attorneys with technical and business information for preparation of opposition filings and proceedings.Support inventors on creation of Invention Disclosure Forms (IDF) and further patent process.Support GE Renewable Energy IP Legal attorneys or external attorneys with technical and business information for preparation of oppositions, litigations or other proceedings.Host OFW Super Patent Evaluation Board (SPEB) to assess new disclosed inventions and providing filing recommendation.Own, Track and update metrics on IDF status until final decision (in SPEB) is made & own, track and maintain metrics on first filing status of approved IDF´s.Planning and execution of IP landscaping, enabling competitor IP awareness in technical teams and "white space" identification with potential for own IP generation.Training of employees on industrial protective rights (esp.
patents) and IP processes & tools.Increase high value IDF submission rate to exceed Business expectations and address shortfalls in expectations pro-actively.Recognize potential competitor infringements of GE patents, prioritize and support resulting legal actions.Development and maintenance of strategic patent portfolio.Contact person for engineering, management and IP counsel in various IP topics for OFW.#J-18808-Ljbffr
