Job Purpose: The Technical Cloud Engineer Lead position is an individual contributor role. He/she will work as an interface between Developers, Business Operations, and Support staff. He/she is passionate about designing and developing Cloud solutions. The position requires senior-level proficiency in technology, hands-on coding skills, and the ability to translate high-level business requirements into technology execution.
- Use DevOps/Agile as the core philosophy for Cloud Infrastructure Provisioning/Configuration/Delivery.
- Agile software delivery process using AzureDevOps (including breaking down work into modular tasks, updating/tracking task status/work log entries for sprint management).
- Stash/Git (source code management including branching strategy, code review).
- Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.
- Proactively communicate and collaborate with internal customers to analyse information needs and functional requirements and deliver the following artifacts as needed: Functional/Business Requirements, High-Level Architecture, System Requirements, Design Documents, Wireframe, etc.
- Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Work independently with users to define concepts under the direction of product owner and project managers.
- Drive and challenge business units on their assumptions of how they will successfully execute their plans.
- Serve as the conduit between the business/customer community and the software development team through which requirements flow.
- Develop infrastructure requirements specifications according to standard templates.
- Experience in troubleshooting infrastructure resources issues and taking on-fly decisions.
Infrastructure Provisioning and Automation: - Understanding of Terraform Data Structures and Functions to create IaC manifests.
- Familiarity with Terraform Opensource and TFC.
- Fluency and hands-on to deploy infrastructure with terraforming using AzureRM | AWS provider.
- Experience to create Terraform configuration manifests from scratch.
- Experience and hands-on to define Terraform Blueprints for modules and deployment manifest from scratch.
- Familiarity to use modules and configuration manifest into different landscapes with DRY approach (Workspaces, Variables).
- Fluency to transform infrastructure requirements into terraform code.
- Extensive fluency to create/modify/refactor terraform modules from scratch.
- Experience working with Git Repositories for Modules Control Version and Lifecycle with Azure DevOps and GitHub.
- Experience working with Terraform Cloud and Modules Registries with AzureDevOps.
- Fluency and hands-on to define terraform sentinel policies with alignment with Security and Governance.
- Good understanding of Azure Policies / Custom Roles to be applied and used when creating Terraform Policies and Terraform Deployments.
Infrastructure Configuration / Automation: - Fluency in one or more scripting languages including Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
- Familiarity with configuration management systems and understanding of configuration as Code - Ansible.
- Familiarity with Ansible Galaxy and Private Git Repositories for Roles and Collection Lifecycle.
- Demonstrated experience and fluency to create Ansible Playbooks, Roles, Collections, and Inventories (static and dynamic) from scratch.
- Fluency with Ansible and AzureDevops CI/CD pipelines for configuration management (Ansible Playbook must be run using AzureDevops CI/CD pipelines, similar to use GitLab Pipelines / GitHub Actions).
- Fluency with AzureDevops to be used as Repository for roles, collection, and playbooks lifecycle.
- Experience with Ansible and Windows Hosts configuration management.
- Fluency and familiarity to work with Ansible Tower, RedHat Satellite for RHEL deployments, and configuration management for Linux and Windows Hosts.
Responsibilities: - Cloud operations - Proactive maintenance of Microsoft Azure, GCP and AWS environments, identify areas of concern, and improve platform where possible (20%).
- Infrastructure as code - Terraform and Ansible (30%).
- Security, Cost and Performance optimization of AWS and Azure environments (5%).
- Problem management & General troubleshooting (10%).
- Support Architect to create/deploy solution architecture (20%).
- Design and project work (15%).
Knowledge, Skills and Experience: - 10 to 15 Years of relevant work experience.
- Bachelor's Degree with Computer Science or Related field of study required.
- Other Education / Certifications: Prince2 Practitioner, Microsoft Azure Expert, Linux Foundation Certified Engineer, Certified Associate in Python Programming, Docker Certified Associate, Certified Scrum Master, Azure Administrator - AZ 104, Terraform Associated Certific.
