Craft: Technology & Development

Your role within our Kingdom: Candy Crush is organized in areas, each area being responsible for a part of the game. The Ads area focuses on creating relevant and unique Ads features for our players while developing and implementing the technology and operational architecture for a scalable tech. As Tech Lead for the area, you will have a key role in crafting the technology choices and architecture in the Ads Team as well as coaching the development team in best practices. The Tech Lead role does not include people management.

Some ways in which you will contribute to creating amazing experiences for our players and essential tools used internally to enable this include:

Inform and guide production plans from a technical perspective within the area e.g. by identifying technical risks and opportunities. Guide architecture in area initiatives and facilitate technical collaborations. Understand critical King systems and how they can be used in the area. Facilitate collaborations with other Candy areas and King units. Be ready to jump in and support high priority team projects and critical incidents. Drive technical side projects or investigations to help the area. Understand, communicate and contribute to Candy's tech architecture from the area perspective. Promote production of high-quality, scalable and maintainable software. Keep up-to-date with, and promote, development best practices. Help make the Ads area and Candy an attractive place to work for developers. Stay an active contributor to Candy's code base. Skills to create thrills: You have a strong passion for gameplay features and tools that ultimately serve millions of users every day! You are a great communicator and are happy to work with people from various business units and crafts.

You can translate business needs into technical requirements. You are excited about the opportunity to participate and craft how business critical tools and game elements are developed, used and maintained.

Other skills include: Strong communication skills - you can adapt your message based on audience and are confident in both written and verbal communication. Strong influencing skills - you can educate and influence stakeholders about various topics including the need for technology investments (technical debt reduction for example). An understanding of scale, architecture and long-term maintenance aspects. Pragmatism when faced with short-term vs long-term challenges. Capable of moving between different parts of the King tech stack including the engine, client, web and backend. Have a broad technical knowledge and experience about C++, Backend APIs. Experience with Ads SDK will be a bonus skill. About King: King is the game developer behind the world-famous Candy Crush franchise, as well as mobile game hits including Farm Heroes, Bubble Witch and Pet Rescue. Candy Crush is the top-grossing franchise in US app stores, a position it has held for the last two years, and King's games are being played by 245 million monthly active users as of Q3 2021. King, which is part of the Activision Blizzard group since its acquisition in 2016, employs nearly 2,000 people in game studios in Stockholm, Malmö, London, Barcelona and Berlin, and offices in San Francisco, New York, and Malta.

A Great Saga Needs All Sorts of Heroes: Making games is fun. Especially when you do it with people who share the same idea of what makes a good workplace great. We design games for everyone, no matter where they are or who they are, and we employ all sorts of people from all kinds of backgrounds to bring them to life. Truth is, we simply cannot expect diversity in our players and originality in our games without first nurturing it in our people. A great saga needs all sorts of heroes.

Making the World Playful: Making the World Playful is what inspires us to create new experiences and raise the bar. It's what makes King a place where we can all dream bigger, continue to add innovation to our games, broadening the portfolio and exploring new territories in mid-core and casual. We take the art and science of gaming to the next level through our curiosity for the unexplored, passion for games, respect for each other and love for our players - and we're not afraid to have fun along the way. In fact, together with our parent company Activision Blizzard and experts around the world, we believe having fun is good for you. There has never been a better time to join us. We're dreaming bigger and see a world of possibilities ahead. If you share our passion, our values, and our hunger to shape the future, join us in Making the World Playful!
