Our three core values inspire the way we work and how we treat our people & customers – 1) Be bold 2) Strive for better 3) Do the right thing.Job Title: Legal Counsel - European LinesDivision: Specialty RisksReports To: As per Beazley's organisation chartKey Relationships: Business Management, Beazley Digital, Specialty Risks Underwriters, Compliance, Innovation and Product Development and all other relevant stakeholdersJob Summary: Provide underwriting and wordings support to assigned Beazley Digital and Specialty Risks teams or focus groups and general support across Beazley Digital, Specialty Risks and other Beazley trading teams as necessary.Key Responsibilities:Primary focus is on drafting policy wordings and endorsements to support business/underwriting objectives of the assigned Beazley Digital and Specialty Risks teams/focus groups.Support the European Underwriters across Multi-Lines including Management Liability, Professional Liability and Cyber both large risk and mass risk.Line manage direct reports.Assist with regulatory projects where there is wordings impact.Assist the focus groups in addressing coverage issues raised in the underwriting and negotiation process to assist in successful closing of business opportunities.Provide high quality and timely responses to queries raised.Providing support and advice on underwriting, product development, and coverage issues.If qualified, review confidentiality agreements, warranty statements and other agreements as needed for US/UK/RoW Beazley Digital and Specialty Risks Underwriters.Assist Beazley Digital and Specialty Risks underwriters in addressing bespoke coverage requests; requires interaction with Brokers, Insureds, other key external stakeholders (e.g., external counsel).Support the trading team to facilitate an organised knowledge management and sharing process.Coordinate projects and work collaboratively with other key stakeholders internally.Monitor competitive landscapes for continuous improvement of wordings and underwriting controls.Participate in Team/Focus Group business planning, away days, broker/client meetings and other marketing events, as required.Provide assistance with additional projects and/or legal services (if qualified) for Business Management, Beazley Digital, Specialty Risks or other Beazley teams, as needed.Monitor claims developments and impact of wording on claims.General: It is important that within all your interactions both internally and externally you adhere to Beazley's core values - Being Bold, Striving for Better, and Doing the Right Thing.Personal Specification:Education & Qualifications: Law Degree preferred.Skills & Abilities:Organised and detailed oriented.Good working knowledge of MS Office.Ability to communicate effectively with others, both verbally and in writing.Self-motivated team worker who is also able to work on own initiative.Proven ability to manage time, meet deadlines, and prioritise.Able to maintain standards and professionalism during periods of fluctuating workloads.Multilingual with fluency in English and French and/or German and/or Spanish preferred.Knowledge & Experience:Relevant professional level experience required.Insurance-related experience preferred.Strong client service skills required.Aptitude & Disposition:Task-focused, self-motivated and flexible.Consistently professional approach.Able to successfully interact with managers/underwriters/colleagues/external suppliers.Positive, enthusiastic and service oriented.Competencies:Achievement orientation.Analytical thinking.Information seeking.Customer focus.Team working.Initiative.Problem solving.Detail oriented.
