The Systems Engineer works in the Infrastructure team and is responsible for installing, configuring, supporting, monitoring, testing and troubleshooting hardware and software pertaining to the STI IT server infrastructure. This includes planning, organizing and execution of building and implementing server systems and domain infrastructure. Coordinating closely with the Director of IT Infrastructure, a Systems Engineer is a member of a team of engineers and support technicians who are responsible for managing, maintaining and troubleshooting the corporate IT server infrastructure, both physical and virtual, and its resident services, inclusive of: Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems, the Office 365 Suite of products, the corporate security platform, the STI corporate and operations domain, corporate security and controls solutions and the operations call recording and phone system servers. In addition, the role will provide technical support for the other IT technical staff and work closely with members from the network and telecom teams. This position oversees: Overall systems management and services, a variety of both in-house and vendor supported applications, platforms and technologies, maintaining SLAs, working with the various IT teams and partners for resource scheduling, ensuring all procedures are properly documented and enforced as it pertains to the corporate IT server infrastructure, as well as contributing and implementing continual server improvements. Roles and Responsibilities Plans, implements, installs, operates, and maintains the physical hardware, systems software, enterprise applications, & virtualized infrastructure system environments Manages and monitors the infrastructure systems to ensure the highest level of availability for continued business continuity Installs, configures, and tests operating systems, application software, and system management tools. Manages asset lifecycles, defines requirements, designs systems, and oversees implementation. Reviews systematic data analytics for optimization and improvements Evaluates, installs, and maintains software, firmware, and hardware for system & application reliability and compatibility Plans and implements system automation processes for improved efficiencies Collaborates with internal & external resources on various projects, initiatives, and testing Interfaces with customers to gather information and requirements needs Provides upper-level technical expertise in troubleshooting, problem resolution, and root cause analysis Produces and maintains technical documents, such as guidelines, runbooks, system processes, policies, and procedures Provides technical expertise to IT and operational staff, assists in troubleshooting, problem resolution, and root cause analysis Provide technical mentoring and guidance to team members to ensure success in the team Supports security measures and standards for infrastructure systems and end-user environments Provide infrastructure systems support for Information Technology teams; act as a liaison with remote teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues Evaluates existing systems and provides technical recommendations and directions to IT support staff Participate in on-call responsibilities in support of a 24 x 7 production environment Specific Skills and Requirements: Expert knowledge of server hardware platforms, virtual environments, and systems software Expert knowledge with Active Directory functionality, administration and policy controls Expert knowledge of server-client frameworks and environments Scripting (Batch, WMI, VBScript, PowerShell) Fundamental knowledge of network and voice technologies Experience with firewalls, network connectivity, routing, VPN, and application layer protocols Information security methodologies and compliance governance requirements Additional Requirements Fluent in English: Written, Verbal, Comprehension Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse user base having varied levels of technical proficiencies Ability to organize, plan and implement work assignments, prioritize competing demands based on business requirements Self-motivated and resourceful individual, with experience working in fast paced and dynamic operational settings Ability to work in diverse team environments in a global setting Provides upper-level technical expertise in troubleshooting, problem resolution, and root cause analysis Ability to lift, move, and adjust computer and peripheral equipment, up to 75 lbs. Ability to occasionally travel domestically is required. Required Education and Experience Bachelors degree in computer science or related field or related experience Microsoft Certification(s) such as Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and/or Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert with specialized discipline, preferred Minimum of five (5) years of experience within Information Technology Minimum three (3) years of hands-on experience with Server hardware and software
