We are collaborating with a biotech company focused on discovering and developing the next generation of medicines for immune-mediated inflammatory diseases (IMIDs).
We are searching for a new professional to join a very innovative and dynamic team.
We are looking for an IT Support / System Administrator to act as a key player in their IT team, with a primary focus on sysadmin responsibilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing their on-premises servers, virtualization infrastructure, cloud services, and databases, while also providing day-to-day support to end-users across multiple platforms.
Roles and responsibilities:
Act as the sysadmin for our IT infrastructure, encompassing on-premises and cloud servers, laptops, and workstations, overseeing monitoring, updating, and ensuring their smooth operation and security.
Manage and maintain systems to support the computing needs of our bioinformatics team, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
Regular backup system checks and disaster recovery testing.
Manage MySQL, PostgreSQL databases and perform queries if necessary.
Facilitate the migration of Windows users to Azure Active Directory (AD), ensuring a smooth transition and optimal user experience.
Provide day-to-day IT support to end-users, including troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
Migrate legacy services to new servers, minimizing disruption and optimizing performance.
Prepare data for transfer to third parties.
Prepare new workstations and configure user accounts in multiple services, and manage user removal as necessary.
Proactively identify opportunities for improvement within the IT infrastructure, proposing and implementing solutions to enhance security, efficiency, and scalability.
Open to learn new technologies and tools to support the evolving needs of the organization.
Experience and qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
Fluency in spoken and written English.
Proven experience in system administration, with a strong understanding of on-premises and cloud-based IT environments.
Proficiency in Linux administration, including command-line operations and shell scripting.
Experience with network administration and security principles.
Strong knowledge of database management systems, particularly MySQL.
Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.
Having some familiarity with AWS, XDR, Kibana, Nginx, Slurm, Apptainer, GPO, GitHub, and OpenClinica would be beneficial for the role.
While not mandatory, possessing a basic understanding of R would be advantageous as we collaborate closely with the bioinformatics team, who predominantly utilize R for their analyses.
