The Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) is looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher to work in Dr. Jose Berrocal's research group.

The successful candidate will work on synthesis and mechanical characterization of photo- and mechano-responsive polymer materials.ResponsibilitiesThermal and mechanical characterization of polymer materials with dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), rheology, tensile testing, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA)Assist the supervisor in the daily supervision of the PhD studentsSynthesis of small molecules and polymers to be used for sensing applicationsStudy the photo- and mechano-responsive behavior of polymers with setups combining microtensile testing and optical probes measuring transmittance spectraProduction of written reports and presentations to update the group/supervisorRequirementsPhD in Chemistry or Materials ScienceLevel of English equal to B2 or higherPrior experience with rheologyAbility to work independently and in teamsValued qualities:Willingness to undergo a robust training in soft skills and mentoringActive participation in discussion meetings and brainstorming sessionsWillingness to coach/collaborate with PhD studentsWillingness to contribute in project writingWe offer:A 3-year full-time position.Remuneration according to individual's qualifications/experienceAnnual salary split in twelve monthly paymentsIncorporation: February 2025.OTM-R principles in the selection processesICIQ follows the principles of Open, Transparent and Merit-based Recruitment (OTM-R) and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers as established by the European Commission.
