Job Title: Sustainability Specialist (Ethics & Human Rights)

This is a fixed term opportunity for 18 months.
Why we need this role
The Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) team supports and facilitates the development of a robust ESG strategy, as well as ensuring that our sustainability activities go beyond just compliance. We want to deliver an industry leading ESG programme as well as raise awareness of all Colt employees. We are committed to helping our customers, suppliers and strategic partners achieve this also. This role will support the business in delivering the ESG strategy and vision (in particular concerning Human Rights, Ethics, sustainable procurement activity); through leading workstream activity in collaboration with colleagues across the group as well as strengthening EU Taxonomy alignment and supply chain engagement.
What you will do
Lead and further develop additional ESG workstreams to drive forward the organisational strategy regarding human rights, ethics, conflict minerals, supply chain decarbonisation, etc.
Work with ESG Data Analyst and external consultants to develop metrics and dashboards which provide meaningful insights for all levels and functions.
Align with HR, Procurement and other internal teams to strengthen ESG understanding and embed EU Taxonomy requirements.
Assist in the development of policies, processes and schedules aimed at promoting and protecting human rights, promoting ethical practice, decarbonisation, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and recommending corrective actions.
Links with the ESG Executive to define and drive internal and external ESG communications requirements, promoting awareness of ethical standards and human rights issues through outreach and communications strategies.
Communicate with internal colleagues of all levels on alignment with SBT's, as well as CSRD and EU taxonomy requirements.
Give advice and support to colleagues on all sustainability matters, recommend and develop policies that drive a greater understanding of sustainability to embed across the business.
Work with other departments, organizations, and stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive approach to human rights and ethics issues.
Partnering and liaising with relevant external bodies to strengthen our approach, improve supply chain data collection, and share best practice (i.e. CDP Supply Chain programme, UNGC, Responsible Business Initiative, WEC).
Stay abreast of industry changes and best practice, conducting research on ethical issues and human rights trends and translate into meaningful business action.
Work alongside procurement colleagues to support supplier sustainability engagement ensuring alignment with ESG strategy, goals as well as CSRD EU Taxonomy alignment.
Scope out innovative pilot projects and/or collaborative exercises with suppliers to support Colt's implementation of CSRD / EU Taxonomy requirements, as well as achievement of Science-Based Targets, including research, planning and implementation.
Liaise with relevant teams to support establishing mechanisms for reporting and addressing ethical breaches or human rights violations within the organisation and wider supply chain.
Act as the link between the ESG team and Sales colleagues to drive the ESG value proposition for customers as well as assisting with ad hoc bid support requests.
What we're looking for
Skills & Experience:
Prior working experience in the Sustainability field with emphasis on human rights, ethics, sustainable procurement.
Clear understanding of human rights / ethics activities to drive change.
Excellent communication skills and English business level, we want to bring the sustainability narrative to life.
Collaborative approach to sometimes complex sustainability solutions.
Strong understanding of the sustainability landscape with the ability to explain in a meaningful way to various stakeholder levels.
Prior experience researching and writing reports and briefing notes accessible to a wide and varied audience.
Leadership of workstreams across a global organisation.
Excellent organisational skills.
Sustainability qualification is desirable.
Understanding of EU Taxonomy, CSRD requirements is a plus.
Previous experience in global function and business would be advantageous.
