Our research lines focus on the newly-discovered physical and chemical properties that arise from the behaviour of matter at the nanoscale.
ICN2 has been awarded with the Severo Ochoa Center of Excellence distinction for three consecutive periods (2014-2018 and 2018-2022 and 2023-2026).
ICN2 comprises 19 Research Groups, 7 Technical Development and Support Units and Facilities, and 2 Research Platforms, covering different areas of nanoscience and nanotechnology.
Job Title: Sustainability Officer Research area or group: Health & Safety Area Description of Group/Project: The Health & Safety Area works for the ICN2 community to achieve the best working conditions as well as environmental management.
It promotes guidelines and safe behaviours, waste management procedures and sustainable strategies in compliance with current regulations.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities: Develop a comprehensive action plan according to ICN2 sustainability strategy to help the Institute evaluate its environmental impact.
Identify opportunities to minimize its negative effects focusing especially on sustainable practices during research tasks.
Reduce the organization's environmental footprint by implementing initiatives such as energy efficiency, waste reduction, water conservation, and carbon neutrality by promoting the adoption of sustainable practices.
Drive initiatives that positively impact the ICN2 community (trainings, communication campaigns, etc.
), stakeholders, and other Institutions with which the ICN2 collaborates.
Collect, analyze, and report sustainability data and metrics ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and research standards.
Analyze current policies, costs, and benefits associated with implementing sustainable practices in an organization.
Coordinate waste management in laboratories and scientific facilities (banal and hazardous) with our external supplier, as well as analyze the activities that generate waste to minimize their impact.
Conduct audits in laboratories to verify good practices and ensure compliance with segregation rules and management of generated waste.
Requirements: Education: Degree in Environmental Sciences.
Knowledge: Advanced level of English.
Professional Experience: 2 years of previous experience in a similar role.
Personal Competences: Resilient, positive, accountable and motivated to acquire new knowledge.
