Position: Sustainability Analyst / EHS Analyst Location: Madrid, Spain Sector: Infrastructure Job Description: We are seeking an Sustainability Analyst / EHS Analyst with experience in managing environmental and social projects in compliance with international best practices.
The selected candidate will be responsible for coordinating and conducting impact assessments, preparing environmental and social management plans, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure alignment with international standards and local requirements.
The candidate will report directly to the company's technical team and work closely with financial institutions, export credit agencies, clients, and other key stakeholders in the infrastructure sector.
Responsibilities: Environmental advisory: Provide guidance on mitigation measures and environmental enhancements.
Stakeholder management: Communicate and negotiate with financial institutions, export credit agencies, and stakeholders during environmental impact assessment processes.
Preparation of ESIAs and management plans: Support the preparation of Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA) and Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMP) in line with international standards (e.g., IFC Performance Standards, World Bank ESS, Equator Principles).
Report review: Review technical and environmental documents, such as preliminary assessment letters, scoping reports, environmental statements, and others.
Monitoring and control: Assist in monitoring activities related to ESIA/ESMP/DD projects, including subcontractor management and implementation of health and safety protocols.
Deliverable preparation: Contribute to drafting high-quality environmental and social reports, including risk analysis, mitigation planning, and recommendations for clients.
Audits and due diligence: Support environmental and social audits for transactional due diligence projects.
External collaboration: Collaborate with external environmental consultants to execute impact assessments.
Requirements: Academic background: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related field; Master's in Environmental Science or equivalent preferred.
Relevant experience is required for candidates with a social sciences background.
Professional experience: Over 3 years of experience preparing ESIAs/ESMPs and due diligence activities, particularly in projects in sub-Saharan Africa and multinational environments.
Technical knowledge: Familiarity with international standards such as IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles, World Bank ESS, and OECD standards.
Communication skills: Ability to negotiate and manage relationships with clients and stakeholders.
Analytical skills: Focused on problem-solving related to technical and environmental impact assessments.
Languages: Fluency in Spanish and English (advanced level).
Knowledge of French is a plus.
