Role Purpose
As the Strategic Programs Lead for Software Excellence within the Product Engineering chapter at Roche, you will drive the transformation of our global Architecture & Software Engineering (A&SE) function towards becoming a competitive advantage for the organization, focusing on capability, community, and culture in the organization. You will lead and execute a comprehensive program to enhance the maturity, engagement, and engineering excellence of our A&SE function, aligning with our organizational vision. Your role will include advocating for open and inner source practices, building a culture of innovation, and positioning engineers as partners rather than service providers. You will also focus on connecting engineering efforts more deeply with the market, buyers (customers), users, and patients. Reporting to the Head of Product Engineering in Roche Information Solutions (RIS), you will collaborate with the Chief Software Engineer and other key stakeholders to deliver impactful results.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with the Chief Software Engineer and cross-functional leaders to plan and execute the software excellence transformation of the A&SE organization.
Lead the transformation of thousands of developers and their solutions into a first-class engineering team.
Establish and nurture thriving communities-of-practice across the engineering organization.
Advocate for open and inner source practices and metrics within the engineering community.
Establish and continuously improve the tools and processes for an effective, self-serve Developer Experience.
Organize internal conferences, coordinate engagement at external conferences, and develop a global program for engaging with the engineering community.
Build a culture of innovation, positioning engineers as partners rather than service providers, and driving programs that connect engineers more deeply with the market, buyers (customers), users, and patients.
Communicate software engineering excellence metrics to engineering teams and senior leadership.
International travel up to 20% required.
Your profile
Proven track record of planning and executing engineering excellence transformation programs impacting 1000+ engineers globally.
Strong ability to build collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders across a complex organization.
Excellent communicator with experience engaging stakeholders at all levels, from entry-level engineers to senior executives.
Intrapreneurial mindset with the ability to foster agile organizations in a global corporate environment.
Advanced data analytical skills to derive actionable insights from complex datasets.
Familiarity with technological trends and their relevance to the healthcare industry.
BS degree or equivalent in a directly related discipline (CS, Eng, etc.) or similar field.
15+ years of previous experience in software engineering, program management, product management, or related discipline.
Locations
You will be based in one of our following European sites: Sant Cugat, Vienna, Warsaw, or Poznan. At the Company's discretion, an exception to the location requirement could be made under extraordinary circumstances. As this position is a global role, international business travel will be required depending upon the business location of the successful candidate and ongoing business project activities.
