As our new Start-up Process Engineer, you will work for the location in Montmeló (Barcelona) where we have a lactic acid and derivatives plant, which services all of our markets: Food, Pharma, Biochemicals and Bioplastics.The Spanish team is very versatile and creative; consequently, we view Montmeló as an innovation plant.As part of the Engineering and Technology team, you will report to the Engineering & Technology Manager and be part of a very dynamic and knowledgeable team of more than 10 engineers and (bio) chemists.Your main responsibility is to lead the transfer of the projects from the engineering/technology team to operation, participating in the design phases, commissioning, start-up, and handover phases.ResponsibilitiesLead to success new projects as RTO (Ready to Operate manager), interchanging project info and requirements bidirectionally with Operations, Maintenance, HSE and QA/QC colleagues.Responsible as process engineer for the proper design and start-up of new (or revamped) process area(s).Lead engineering early phases (up to conceptual engineering) in alignment with different stakeholders and departments.Generation, development and implementation of optimization ideas.Participate or lead multidisciplinary continuous improvement teams.Analysis of process issues in areas under his/her responsibility, looking for solutions together with the production team, taking responsibility for implementation and results monitoring.Participation in technological intercompany groups, sharing information and experience, contributing to the generation of technological knowledge, fixing best proven practice standards and utilizing them in the process under his/her responsibility.Provide daily operational support by establishing optimal process settings to maintain and/or improve the process efficiency and/or product quality.Needs to follow trends in production processes to observe deviations in processes in an early stage, preventing process malfunctioning and/or off-spec products.About youIn addition to your educational achievements in Chemical Engineering/Biochemistry/Chemistry, as the successful candidate for the position of Plant Technologist, you must also have:Minimum 5 years of experience in the chemical/biochemical industry in the areas of process engineering/production.Experience in commissioning and start-up of new projects.Accustomed to establishing relationships with machinery vendors, raw materials, and technical (mechanical and electrical) staff.Accustomed to collaborating with Production at all levels (from management to field operators), Quality, and other Operations teams (maintenance, safety, etc.).Experience in GMP environments and qualification document preparation and execution as a clear plus
