Be an engineering lead in the space of Software Testing and Validation at OpenChip; define testing and validation practices, processes, and plans; design, implement, evolve, and maintain the tooling to support them, expanding its scope to serve the needs of the rest of organizations in the company.
Job responsibilities: Lead the definition of Software testing and validation practices, processes, and tools in the company.
This includes:Defining general testing and validation practices and processes.Designing, developing, and implementing testing and validation plans and procedures for individual artifacts, considering functional and non-functional requirements.Championing the implementation of test cases, contributing tests themselves when needed, and ensuring adding these becomes part of the team's processes.
These should include functional, regression, system, and performance tests, and use manual and/or automated techniques as required.Ensuring the execution of tests, either through automated means or by properly established procedures.Coordinating testing and validation for artifact qualification, quality assurance, and release.Understand the technical landscape of their project and make decisions about it.Make independent technical contributions, especially for the most foundational or challenging parts of the project.Interact with engineers and leads from their and other teams to unblock themselves, or to reach consensus on technical topics.In particular:
Work with Software development teams to:Integrate testing into all steps of the Software development lifecycle, in particular identifying opportunities for earlier testing.Collaborate to establish processes and best practices, identify opportunities for automation, and propose and implement the tools and infrastructure that support them or make them possible.Work with Software operations teams to implement, evolve, and maintain the tooling to support the established processes.Work with the IT department to provision, administer, and monitor the infrastructure needed to support testing and validation tools, as well as to make decisions about the purchase of the needed external products.Work with Product teams and the CTO office to define testing and validation plans based on functional and non-functional requirements.Work with Hardware teams, identifying opportunities to unify the testing and validation infrastructure within the company and contributing to make it happen.Work with product, program, strategy, corporate teams, providing them with tools that give visibility into key metrics of software artifact quality and testing process, allowing strategic decisions and process improvements.Work with external companies that provide testing and validation services, becoming the interface with the corresponding leaders on the third party's side.Provide technical guidance to more junior team members, also acting as a mentor.Review team artifacts (design documents, code changes) both for correctness but also for code quality and consistency.Identify opportunities for code and/or process improvement.Loop in directors and above as needed, for instance to surface potential risks or get feedback based on area-level technical knowledge.Collaborate with program managers for task and deliverable tracking, as well as process improvements.Required qualifications: Bachelor or Master's degree in a relevant field.Experience in the relevant field (more than 10 years).Experience with software testing, validation, and release.Experience with quality assurance plan definition.Experience with requirement management tools (e.g., Jama).Experience with DevOps infrastructure (e.g., GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket pipelines).Experience with Bash scripting and Python programming languages.Experience with standard tools for source control (git), continuous integration, task management (Jira).Preferred qualifications: Experience with the C, C++, Go, and/or Rust programming languages.Experience coordinating testing and validation with external companies.Within- and cross-team collaboration at the technical level.Experience leading teams at the technical level (not necessarily with a formal management role).What do we offer?
