We seek a strong Staff Software Engineer I to join our Locations Platform organization and be a key part of the team.
In this role, you will be crucial in designing and developing TomTom's Android and IOS Navigation SDK.
You'll own critical and cutting-edge components that streamline access to various data sources for our SDK customers.
What you'll do: Solve complex problems at scale across teams, owning the software architecture and technical designs Work through all phases of the software engineering lifecycle - requirements gathering, designing solutions, building new interfaces, integration with existing architectures, development, and testing code.
Drive the technical decisions to improve engineering, test, and operational excellence best practices.
Build scalable, highly available, and resilient software by utilizing the optimal languages and frameworks that best suit your use cases, and ensuring their scalability, reliability, and performance.
Provide technical leadership and expertise through peer code and design reviews amongst other practices Enable your team for success through interaction with the technical community at an organizational level Partner with other teams such as Applied science and Product stakeholders.
Mentor new members as we continue to add to our footprint and scope What you'll need: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or 8+ years of equivalent experience.
Experience defining system architectures and exploring technical feasibility trade-offs.
Expertise in full-stack development in modern programming languages.
Proven ability to learn new languages and technologies, and lead others in acquiring new skills.
Comfortable with written and/or verbal communication in English Experience building scalable, distributed, production software systems with an understanding of design for performance and reliability Experience driving large projects from concept to prototype to production.
Experience working with databases and data processing tools.
