This position is responsible for placing purchase orders (POs), performing PO follow up activities, solving quantity/delivery date issues, validating that all required documentation is available, and negotiating the best combination of price, quality, and delivery to satisfy site operational requirements.Carry out and monitor the entire purchasing process of certain raw materials, equipment, materials and/or services with a view of continuously providing the organization with the required (raw) materials at an interesting price.Duties & ResponsibilitiesServe as the purchasing point of contact for internal stakeholders who need to purchase goods/services.Place orders with approved vendors/suppliers as required following company procedures and ensure that the most competitive prices and conditions are negotiated.Analyze purchase requisitions and review for accuracy and completion.Request and prepare quotes for products, equipment, supplies and/or services as requested.Work with other departments in the organization with the aim of carrying out purchases in function of their needs taking into account the general interests as regards cost efficiency for the entire organization.Investigate and identify new potential vendors/sources for supplies and products as requested.Support the supplier qualification process for new sources of supply.Support global product and supplier harmonization projects to ensure optimum volume leverage.Serve as liaison to the procure-to-pay team and assist in resolving supplier invoicing discrepancies.Explain and clarify purchasing procedures to internal departments as well as suppliers.Manage vendor relationships while elevating potential issues related to purchase agreements.Timely data maintenance (delivery terms, payment terms, purchase prices and more) in the ERP system with the aim of helping to ensure the department's proper operation.Follow-up on purchase orders to ensure products/services are delivered on-time and in-full and meet the agreed prices and conditions; solve/escalate problems with purchase orders in an efficient and timely manner.Think about the purchasing strategy and make proposals for optimization with the aim of improving the purchasing process.Continuously inform oneself about the latest trends in Purchasing and keep one's knowledge up to date in function of new developments with the aim of consolidating one's credibility, by offering a service which is continuously based on up-to-date knowledge.Make decisions on optimal delivery quantities and dates based on supplier confirmation and in collaboration with sales or production planning.Serve as the operational contact to suppliers for arranging timely and complete documentation.Create and modify SOPsWork with technical writers, operations, and QA to help investigate root caused associated with raw materials or service challenges.Maintain professional knowledge and technical skills related to purchasing with the aim of maximizing one's own professional knowledge and applying it in an optimum manner within the organization.Manage the process of sending materials from site to CMO.Manage the of processing PO's for items drop shipped to CMOSCAR, rejections, returns, freight claims including creating return orders and getting them processed via WH.Weekly meetings with finance to fix PO's as needed, pricing, checking qty etc., account and site codesLogistics of inbound freight, quotes, approvals, timing, WH space considerationsSet yourself apart Expected behavior:Proactive mindsetAbility to lead, motivate, and engage others to ensure timely delivery of product.Strong knowledge of relevant topics within QA, QC, Manufacturing, and Supply as required to efficiently lead cross-functional teamsComfortable with negotiation and dealing with different stakeholder levelsA quick learner and team player, exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and excellent verbal and written communication skillsDiscipline to follow policies, processes, and proceduresCapability to communicate with different stakeholder levelsEducation/ Experience Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Management or Industrial Engineer discipline from an accredited college or university.At least 3-5 years of related experienceA team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)Relevant IT skills (able to work with Visio, Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, and Excel)User-level knowledge of major ERP/MRP systems (Navision, SAP, AX, Oracle, etc.)User-level knowledge of INCO termsStrong collaborative and influencing skills, and ability to work well in a cross-functional, matrixed environmentAnalytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to multi-task and manage multiple projectsFlexibility to work effectively in a fast-paced environmentCPIM and/or APICS certification is a plusExperience in working in a cGMP environment, with FDA & State Board of Pharmacy experience would be a plus for any candidateFlexibility to work effectively in a fast-paced environmentKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Proactive mindsetRelentless on issue resolutionTimely responsiveness to information requestsPassion for continuous improvementComfortable with negotiation and direct communication with all levels of the organizationWhat's on offer?
