SQL Server DBA – CONTRACT OR PERMCONTRACT OR PERM | REMOTE / GTA, ON | July 11, 2023SQL Server DBA – CONTRACT OR PERMThe DBA's primary role is to support and maintain the Company's databases, provide technical direction, and security governance over data.Other responsibilities include database operational management, high availability, installs/upgrades, data migrations, troubleshooting database-related incidents and performance issues, and monitoring the operational management of database infrastructure technologies deployed at the Company.This position will join a team responsible for core infrastructure services for compute, storage, database, telecom, network, and security operations.DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIESA minimum of 7 years combined rich work experience in MS SQL Server 2022, 2019, 2017, 2016 versions.Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.Hands-on in MS SQL Server database backup and recovery.Strong working experience with High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server such as Always On availability groups, Log Shipping, Transactional Replication, and Windows Server Failover Clustering.Must be very hands-on with MS SQL Server database upgrades, SQL Server patching, and testing all aspects of database refreshes.Solid hands-on in writing SQL statements (Structured Query Language).Strong T-SQL database programming and Windows PowerShell scripting skills.Ability to work with cross-functional team members with other IT groups in articulating and convincing MS SQL Server requirements.Ready to participate in the DBA team on-call support rotation.Manage and operate large scale critical production database systems.Provide direct operational support across all areas of the production database infrastructure including high availability and database replication.Install and configure database servers (MS SQL 2016+) using various high availability technologies such as Availability Groups and Failover Cluster Instances.Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, monitoring, troubleshooting, patching, and optimization of the databases.Develop automation of the database processes, tasks, and procedures.Follow operational policies and processes that are compliant with ITIL standards. Participate in change control procedures.Provide root cause analysis and/or proactively provide recommendations to prevent issues from surfacing.Must have strong hands-on experience in troubleshooting SQL Server performance-related issues like CPU, memory, DISK IO, deadlocks, blockings, query tuning, and slow-running queries.Must have technical knowledge and experience on Windows OS platform from 2008 to 2019.Must have hands-on experience on import & export, backup & recovery, and database maintenance plans like indexing, statistics, and database integrity tasks.Manage related monitoring and alerting tools – PowerShell scripts, Redgate, logic monitor.Ensure that all of the above comply with the appropriate corporate policies (i.e.: Security, Operations, Incident and Change Management, System Development Life Cycle).Document technical requirements, justification, and recommendations to maintain standard Operating procedures (SOPs).QUALIFICATIONSExperienceMinimum 5-10 years of SQL Server Database Administration.Minimum 2-4 years Microsoft Azure and/or AWS Solutions.EducationDegree in Computer Science/IT or equivalent.Industry certifications in one or more of the following:Microsoft – MCSE Server Infrastructure certification.ITIL Certified.If you have the required experience, please forward a MS Word copy of your resume along with your years of work experience with:SQL Server DBA (?
