EURECAT
Eurecat is the main Research & Technology Organisation in Catalonia and the second largest private research organization in southern Europe. It brings together the experience of more than 700 professionals and provides services to more than 2,000 companies. Applied R&D, technological services, highly specialized training, technological consultancy or valorisation and exploitation of industrial property are some of the services that Eurecat offers for both large and small and medium-sized enterprises in all sectors. The technology centre participates in more than 200 large national and international consortium projects of high strategic R&I and has 181 patents and 10 spin-offs. The added value provided by Eurecat accelerates innovation, reduces spending on scientific and technological infrastructures, reduces risks and provides specialized knowledge tailored to each company.
Job description
The Functional Printing & Embedded Devices Unit develops innovative solutions based on functional materials and devices. This Unit has the knowledge and experience to contribute from research concepts to prototyping and manufacturing. The Unit can cover the entire TRL chain, from the conceptualization of the idea to prototype validation, including design, proof of concept, material analysis, processes, prototyping, and characterization.
The specialization areas of the Unit include the formulation of functional inks, printing and coating processes for lightweight and flexible devices, their characterization, and in terms of electronics, the design, development, and manufacturing of conventional PCB electronics and hybrid electronics.
The team is looking for a specialist researcher to support the research line on printed sensors for health and environmental monitoring applications.
Some of the projects deal with:
Development and validation of a PoC (Point of Care) device for measuring clinical severity biomarkers.
Development of an electrochemical and multiplexed biosensor at the point of care for the quantitative detection of diagnostic biomarkers.
Development of chemical and biochemical sensors for environmental applications.
Development of medical devices that integrate biosensors into skin patches to contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge in the field of health.
The candidate will work in the development of sensors and biosensors based on printed electronics with application in flexible devices and integration into miniaturized fluidic systems.
The tasks include:
Study of state-of-the-art technologies.
Manipulation of biological samples.
Design and fabrication of monitoring platforms based on printed sensors combined with microfluidics chips.
Surface functionalization with different biorecognition strategies.
Prepare experimental procedures.
Physicochemical characterization of materials (electrical, optical, morphological characterization techniques, etc.).
Analysis and presentation of results.
Preparation of technical reports.
The candidate will join a dynamic and multicultural work environment with a focus on generating value for clients and using agile and innovative project management methodologies.
