We are now looking for an Expert Accountant who will be a SOX Lead for the Cluster team for Polestar to be based in Madrid (metro Cuzco). Polestar is an all-electric Swedish car brand, which sells directly and online to consumers and is listed on Nasdaq. What you'll do
The SOX Lead is expected to have a deep understanding of accounting principles, financial analysis skills, knowledge of the COSO framework, and experience from SOX. This position is to build up and strengthen our SOX compliance within our Polestar Cluster team responsible for the reporting of several entities that fall under the U.S. jurisdiction.
The Polestar Group headquarters are responsible for the SOX framework, and this role will be to interpret and put the controls into practice. As a SOX Lead, you will have the overall responsibility of overseeing the progress for all the controls, as well as being Control Owner for a number of Key Controls.
You will be working closely with the Internal Control department at our headquarters, different stakeholders within the company, as well as the other Control Owners in the other teams and wider GAD community. This makes collaboration and trust vital to secure an efficient way of working and securing the reported figures.
Other responsibilities:
The SOX Lead will oversee and manage SOX compliance across the Cluster team, provide advice and guidelines to the Cluster team as well as the rest of the GAD team if needed, collaborate with audit teams and cross-functional departments to ensure accurate and compliant financial reporting, act as the single point of contact for all the Control Owners where the Cluster is preparing the underlying calculations, and maintain documentation and reporting for regulatory purposes.
Additionally, the SOX Lead will lead the design, implementation, documentation, and monitoring of key internal controls based on the Polestar SOX Framework, actively seek standardization, automation, and best practices for managing internal controls, and engage with internal and external auditors to address relevant risks and audit findings. The SOX Lead will also be the person of reference for the rest of the GAD team members, helping them when needed.
What you'll bring
A minimum of 7 years in a similar position in a multinational group or Big 4 audit firm is required. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
Other requirements:
• Knowledge of the COSO framework and experience from SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) environments
• Be a fast learner adaptable to evolving business environments
• Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Have effective communication skills for presenting internal control and risk matters
• Have a strong understanding of financial reporting.
• Fluent in written and oral English communication (C1)
