We have an exciting opportunity for a Solution Architect / Engineer to join our High Performance Computing team.
As an HPC Solution Architect / Engineer, you will be contributing significantly to the evolution and delivery of cutting-edge projects in the Science & Research space.
Our shared HPC environment provides compute on demand resources for diverse computational workloads, batch processing, and visualization, supporting areas such as large-scale computational chemistry, High Volume CryoEM data processing, Large Scale Omics Data processing, Machine Learning, etc.
We are looking for someone with strong hands-on experience in High Performance Computing, specifically with IBM Spectrum LSF, and a strategic architecture mindset.
Your responsibilities include: Driving architecture and engineering of the HPC / scheduler configuration in partnership with the informatics team and business to optimize scientific workloads. Engineering tooling for reporting and observability, supporting consumers with a clear view of the performance of their jobs and the platform as a whole, developing statistics on platform usage by scientific business cases to ensure sound investment decisions. Ensuring the HPC architecture is fit for today's needs and tomorrow's demands, assessing appropriate new technologies in the area of scale-out computing. Collaborating with Roche architecture and strategy teams to ensure the right balance of on-premise and cloud resources are considered for efficient platform operation. Working as part of the global HPC team to create automation, identify training needs, and develop operational processes. We need a passionate person who has:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, systems analysis, or a related field. 5+ years of hands-on experience in the following areas/technologies: HPC scheduler knowledge such as LSF, Slurm, or Gridengine. Knowledge of HPC cluster build and management tools. DevOps, Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Terraform). Cloud technologies, infrastructure/platform as a service (AWS, Google, Azure). Virtualization and containerization awareness. Good all-around Linux skills. Experience working in agile teams (SAFe/Scrum). Strong collaboration and influencing skills with a proven ability to lead and inspire. Analytical and logical problem-resolution skills.
