Software Sales Engineer - Advanced Simulation Technologies The Software Sales Engineer fulfills a vital role within AVL by determining customer needs for Simulation & Testing Software for integrating all SW elements into the vehicle development process, translating these needs into cost effective technical solutions. This role will involve coordinating technical proposal and quotations for all customer needs and requests. The role will also involve visits to customer sites.
Qualified candidates must possess at least an engineering degree. In addition, candidates preferably should possess 3 years' experience with a background in Software business, however other entry-level profiles are also invited to apply. Strong communication skills are also required for success in this role.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES: To develop and coordinate technical solutions and quotations in response to customer requirements for AVL Simulation & Testing Software. Identify new business opportunities for AVL Software Business Unit. Develop relationships within existing customer base and acquire new customers for AVL Software Business Unit, driving sales and achieve business targets. Make presentations and conduct software demonstrations at customer locations or via online meetings Establishing and maintaining effective customer relationships to understand customer needs, promote customer understanding of AVL portfolio, and reach alignments to provide a solution. Ensures a positive customer experience throughout the sales process. Prepares sales plans using company tools. Support/preparation forecasting planning tasks. Performs regular status reviews throughout the AVL worldwide organization. To develop and maintain a high level of technical expertise in AVL SW solutions. Provide market feedback for future software development and improvement. Ensure local execution of go-to-market strategies / product launches ensuring efficient marketing activities and value proposition to customers. Support customer during on-boarding phase and collect customer satisfaction information. YOUR PROFILE: Bachelors' degree or Masters' degree in Industrial engineering / Electrical or Electronic engineering / Automotive engineering or other related SW Engineering. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish. German desirable. Self-motivated and capable of setting and executing the strategy to accomplish goals. Excellent relationship management, communication and negotiation skills – ability to influence stakeholders at all levels. Self-confident personality with communication and intercultural skills. High technical understanding. Sales or sales support experience. Highly customer focused and able to solve customer related issues to mutual satisfaction. Planning, prioritizing and coordinating workload with minimal guidance. Willingness to travel (10%). Commitment and flexibility. Knowledge of automotive industry & its current challenges. Demonstrated successful experience in technical sales preferred. Strong fundamental knowledge of powertrain testing & development (project planning, project work, project management). Prove ability and experience of supporting sales operation teams. Competence in products, applications, markets and competition in the Spanish industry (related to automotive software business).
