Overview: We are currently working with a third-party provider to develop a proprietary Business Management System. This new system will replace our current setup, which is based on a Translation Management System (SaaS) plus a number of other platforms to deliver non-linguistic services.
This new platform will serve as a comprehensive ecosystem, including our client portal, client and vendor databases, project- and workflow-management modules, reporting, and billing.
We are looking for a Software Engineer (and API Integration Specialist) to act as the key technical liaison between our internal team and the external development provider. In this role, you will focus on:
Support in steering the development process of the new platform from a technical perspective. Integrating and linking the new platform with the other existing, various SaaS tools we use in production. Building and maintaining data pipelines and orchestrating workflows. You will be responsible for backend service development, API integration, cloud platform interaction, and creation of scalable system designs.
You will be responsible for creating thorough documentation of everything you do, ensuring that all processes, workflows, and technical details are captured in a way that is easy to follow and reference.
We need someone who can seamlessly communicate with both technical and business stakeholders, and who excels in building and maintaining strong internal relationships. You should be someone who loves collaborating with people, thrives in a partnership-focused environment, and can translate technical complexities into terms that non-technical stakeholders can easily understand.
Responsibilities: Technical Liaison: Act as the main technical contact between Locaria and the third-party BMS developer. API Development & Integrations: Develop and implement API integrations between the new BMS and our internal SaaS systems. System Design & Architecture: Design scalable, reliable, and secure systems and infrastructure to support integrations. Data Pipelines & Workflow Automation: Build and maintain data pipelines and automate workflows. System Infrastructure Design and Management: Proven experience in designing and building scalable, reliable, and secure systems. API Design Principles: Solid grasp of API design principles, including versioning, security, and performance considerations. Collaboration & Communication: Collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Documentation: Create clear, thorough, and comprehensive documentation of all processes and workflows. Required Skills: Collaboration Skills: Proven ability to work collaboratively across teams. System Design: Good understanding of designing and building scalable, reliable, and secure systems. Backend Development: Working experience in backend service development with at least one of the following: Java, C#, or Node.js. Frontend Development: Good knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. Scripting: Professional experience with Python. Experience with flask and fastAPI is a plus. API Integration: Strong knowledge of API design and implementation using REST, GraphQL, and Web Sockets. Cloud Platform Expertise: Proficiency in working with Cloud Platforms: Google Cloud Platform (preferred), AWS, or Azure. Data Pipelines & Orchestration: Hands-on experience with data pipeline and orchestration tools like Apache Beam, Airflow, Cloud Composer, and Kubernetes. Databases: Strong understanding of relational databases like MySQL or PostgreSQL, and experience with NoSQL databases like MongoDB or BigTable. CI/CD & Version Control: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools, especially Git. Containerisation: Experience with Docker for containerisation and Kubernetes for container orchestration. Language: Advanced English is a must. Desirable: Experience with translation technologies like Phrase, Plunet, XTRF, Trados, XTM, or MemoQ, and knowledge of the translation industry and workflows.
