About the role

As the Senior Architect Software Engineer – Internet of Things (IoT), you will be responsible for the development of various IoT projects. This is a critical role in terms of customer perception and will directly impact the success and reputation of Vodafone's IoT product offering and its ability to achieve the forecasted revenue targets. The role holder will work with the product and architect team to deliver customer quality software products.
The main responsibilities include:

Deliver IoT software as per requirements, managing all aspects of software deployment and continuous integration.

Proficient in problem determination, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.

Identify and recommend process improvements.

Document and provide technical guidelines and best practices to Operations and Development teams.

Work closely with the enterprise architecture and product teams to ensure requirements can be realized and avoid unnecessary engineering costs later in the development process.

Oversee progress of the development team to ensure consistency with initial design.

Provide technical guidance and coaching to developers and engineers.

Evaluate and identify opportunities to apply new technology solutions or ways of working to existing or upcoming products & services and integrate with legacy systems.

Act as a subject matter expert for selected domain environments/ecosystems.

Influence and build effective relationships with peers within Group, local markets, suppliers & partners.

Skills and experience will include:

Proven experience as a software architect.

Industry experience with Software Platforms in Linux, on-premises, and cloud.

Solid understanding of server technologies.

Strong academic knowledge and professional experience in software development: Java Enterprise, Oracle 11G, Linux, Windows.

Experience using system monitoring tools and automated testing frameworks.

Experience with SQL, XML, JSON, and CSV.

Experience with modern API technologies.

Experience in software architecture, design, and development patterns.

Experience providing and maintaining transformations and APIs for customers and partners.

Good understanding of Databases – Oracle, MongoDB.

Experience with Java frameworks, SpringBoot, Spring technologies.

Experience with container systems (Docker) and orchestrators (Docker Compose, Kubernetes).

Not all skills are mandatory.
