The Position Responsible for assuring that software applications remain in line with business needs and requirements in their structure and function. Establishes and maintains technology standards, and evaluates and directs new technology designs. Provides technical architectural expertise, playing a vital role in designing, enhancing, implementing and scaling application platforms.
Solves technology intricacies in enterprise applications today as well as designs and proposes solutions that will solve problems that have not yet been fully formulated. Works at scale and designs distributed systems to solve a number of problems that have been traditionally addressed by vertically scaling and often expensive technology solutions. Advances engineering and architectural best practices broadly throughout the organization through mentoring architects and engineers. Works closely with the business to translate business requirements into application design that fit the overall business architecture.
Your main responsibilities:
Assesses complex technical solutions, defines the architectural runway and roadmap and supports the product manager in defining implementation priorities.
Defines how the components of all the applications relate to each other, and how the facilities will support the capability or the business area.
Communicates technical approaches, concepts, and impact clearly to technical and non-technical project stakeholders.
Manages the architectural decisions records (ADR) and a technical debt backlog for implemented solutions affecting current and future product architecture.
Ensures the application components align with the application architecture and meet application performance goals. Guides performance management reviews measuring attainment of established performance goals.
Performs technology due diligence on software development and architecture topics, including open source.
Provides data to senior management on the new trends and threats in the software space.
Collaborates closely with the principal software engineer to ensure that the development teams are building to the system architecture as designed.
Guides cross functional technical alignment on the definition, understanding & architecture of technologies and solutions in several key areas, to include cross capability, cross release issues, and issues affecting application integrity.
Works with cross-functional teams, product management, product owner, development and operations to architect innovative operating alternatives that form the overall operating strategy and business architecture.
Examines the impact of process or technical tool changes on existing processes, tools, and interfaces based on knowledge of interdependencies of related functions and systems.
Ensures adequacy and quality of process controls and procedure documentation.
Participates in industry open-source, working groups or similar technical communities of practice in interest of continuously improving best practices in software architecture and development.
Serves as technical expert on new products and technology.
Advocates for continuous improvement to ensure consistency and alignment across project teams.
Promotes architecture as a discipline amongst other project teams and within the department and global organization.
Recommends process improvements based on feedback and experience.
Models our speak-up culture in a constructive and professional manner.
Monitors work to ensure quality, and continuously promote Quality First Time.

Who you are:
You have excellent communication and networking/relationship building skills; able to articulate advanced technical topics to non-technical colleagues. Skilled in requirements evaluation, software system design, and implementation/testing of distributed, fault-tolerant systems with particular attention to security, scalability, high performance, and cost optimization. Skilled in architecting innovative solutions that meet the requirements with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, realistic implementation schedules and adherence to architectural goals and standards. Skilled at building proofs of concepts and prototypes to demonstrate feasibility of architectural designs and vision using demonstrated expertise in Visual Studio, VS Code, C#, WPF, Web APIs and Angular. Ability to guide and mentor technical teams, from conception to successful market presence, on large distributed systems with high performance demands. Demonstrates servant leadership and encourages team members to seek innovative solutions. Ability to mentor other architects and engineers in career path, problem-solving, and skill growth. Strong technical influence and ability to operate effectively at all levels of the organization; ability to work effectively across diverse groups of a large distributed company. Ability to contribute to multiple projects/demands simultaneously. Ability to operate successfully without significant oversight - comfortable 'taking a position' with imperfect or incomplete information. Excellent long term technological capability and operating cost optimization. Adept at influencing change/improvement in the organization beyond their own team.
