Job Description Role Purpose: DevOps is the practice of operations and development engineers participating together in the entire service lifecycle, from design through the development process to production support.
DevOps is also characterized by operations staff making use many of the same techniques as developers for their systems work.
Following the foundations of the DevOps I and II, the DevOps Engineer III is the main point of contact within a product team for all the DevOps activities.
This role is a key part of the Software Development/Testing Lifecycle, being an active part of technical reviews and maintaining the roadmap in that product team, being an example for another DevOps and contributing to extend the DevOps Culture at Sequel.
Main Responsibilities: Leads strategic improvements within a Development Team autonomously.
Design and implement Build and Release improvements to the Development Team.
Work closely with products and architecture team to design and support new architectures (containers, microservices, serverless).
Design and implement new automation tools.
Define and deliver DevOps strategic improvements.
Assist with providing third-level support to business users.
Write design technical documents.
Participate actively on reviews and technical design meetings and provide valuable feedback.
Mentor other DevOps Engineers (levels I, II).
Run training sessions for Development Teams on CI/CD tools and processes.
Suggest new tools and participate in the evaluation of those.
Take responsibility for the delivery of the changes coordinating people in the team.
Responsible for the follow-up of the implementation of the strategic improvements and best practices in each DevOps team.
Write design technical documents and ensure all key processes are documented.
Share information in DevOps forums.
Complete all special projects and other duties as assigned.
Any other duties commensurate to the grade of the role.
Qualifications Knowledge and Experience: Bachelor's degree preferred in Computer Science or other relevant field and extensive related experience.
Working knowledge of all phases of the software development life cycle.
Good knowledge of object-oriented programming concepts, testing pyramid, and design patterns.
Good knowledge of functional programming concepts.
Good knowledge of SQL Server administration.
Good knowledge of Container architectures, good practices, and know-how, including container orchestrator services like Kubernetes and Swarm.
Deep understanding of Version Control System (migrate between VCS, troubleshoot issues with VCS, analyzing performance issues).
Deep understanding of Build and Package process (understanding dependency issues, managing Framework updates, analyzing performance issues, optimizing packaging process).
Good understanding of infrastructure concepts (performance analysis, post-mortem analysis).
Ability to do a risk analysis.
Ability to provide estimates and cost-based designs.
Ability to review other team members' work.
Demonstrated ability to implement new automation tools.
Demonstrated ability to improve CI/CD process.
Demonstrated ability to spread knowledge across the team.
Set measurable goals and meet them.
Good communication skills.
Ability to lead stand-ups, retrospectives, and technical review meetings.
Additional Information: You will be working very closely with the teams in the US and other international locations, therefore you MUST be proficient in conversational and written English.
