Our Team: Vista is the go-to partner for millions of small businesses who need to promote themselves effectively in the modern age.
With tools that empower brands to create their unique identity and expert design support when they need inspiration, we provide a range of digital and print services at every stage of their journey.
To help customers bring their visions to life, we need UX professionals skilled at crafting the right features and experiences - that's where you come in.
What You Will Do: As a mixed methods user researcher in DIY Division, you'll support teams responsible for ensuring customers who want to "Do-It-Yourself" have a world-class experience. You will support product teams that are creating design content, exposing that content to our users, and enabling the editing of our templates and design creation. You'll report into a Senior UX Researcher embedded within the same area, and you will operate within the following framework:
[1]Research Specialist: leading your own research
You'll be responsible for working closely with product teams and the Senior User Researcher to plan and run research projects end-to-end, supporting a human-centered design process to create high-quality user experiences.
This includes defining clear problem statements, framing project goals and research assumptions, scoping and selecting the appropriate methods and tools, supporting recruitment, running/facilitating research activities, analyzing and synthesizing data, and sharing findings.
[2]Coach / Trainer: supporting research being done by others
You'll also be supporting product teams and members who are conducting their own research via:
1 to 1 supports: You'll assist partners who are evaluating usability risks by conducting research at the micro level. These are high-leverage interactions where you may be consulting on participant screener best practices or drafting and analyzing usability tests with members of the product team.
1 to many supports: You'll be developing and delivering trainings, building and improving templates, enabling continuous discovery, and working closely with other User Researchers to develop resources for scaling high-value, high-quality user research.
[3]Advisor: leveraging insights to advise decision-making
Finally, you'll be growing and leveraging insights about users to inform prioritization and planning with your product teams and the Senior User Researcher. This includes insights from primary research, site surveys, product analytics, and service interactions, as well as knowledge from user research and product design.
What You Bring As a Research Specialist: A keen understanding of when to leverage generative vs. evaluative research. The capability to apply mixed methods (qual and quant) to develop a better understanding of customers and identify potential risks. Strong skills in data analysis and quantitative research methods, enabling the extraction of valuable insights from large datasets. Expertise in communicating research findings, emphasizing storytelling through data. As a Coach / Trainer: A strong willingness to mentor and guide Designers, Product Managers, and Engineers. Strong collaboration and communication skills. Strong intuition for when user research is necessary. The ability to bring structure and understanding to discovery efforts. The proficiency to create training, templates, and other resources. A passion for research democratization. A basic understanding of continuous discovery practices. As an Advisor: An eagerness to accumulate product knowledge. An ability to recognize and synthesize patterns across research and data sources. A willingness to partner with other insights teams. Be energized by acting as the 'glue' across teams. Your Qualifications: At Vista, we encourage individuals to apply regardless of whether they meet all requirements.
2+ years experience in applied product research. Bachelors or advanced degree in human behavior-related fields (e.g., Computer Science, HCI, Psychology, Sociology, Behavioral Science). All applicants must submit a portfolio demonstrating experience as a Research Specialist.
