RWE Renewables Europe & Australia GmbH To start as soon as possible, full time, permanent Summary We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Wind Turbine Performance Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in wind turbine engineering, wind energy conversion, and data analysis. They will be responsible for collecting, analysing, and evaluating turbine SCADA data to identify and troubleshoot technical issues affecting turbine performance and the overall performance of the wind farm. They will also be responsible for developing software tools and processes to quantify, analyse, and track wind farm performance.
Key Responsibilities: Leverage your data analysis expertise to collect, manage, verify, and analyse SCADA data. Utilize this data to identify technical issues impacting individual turbine and overall wind farm performance.Possess a strong understanding of wind turbine technology and the ability to translate complex technical findings into clear and concise reports. Articulate how changes made to our assets may impact turbine performance, behaviour, and capability.Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to enhance wind turbine performance. This includes identifying root causes of issues, proposing technical solutions, and overseeing their implementation.Effectively communicate your findings and recommendations to stakeholders through presentations and reports. Ensure alignment on improvement plans to maximise wind farm efficiency.Develop innovative software tools and processes to streamline performance analysis and track wind farm health. Prioritise the development of tools that facilitate early identification of potential turbine component failures.Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the Performance Team by sharing your knowledge and expertise. Additionally, develop bespoke software tools to support the Asset Integrity and Site Operations teams.Demonstrate strong reporting skills. Prepare and contribute to site-specific monthly reports, ensuring accurate data transfer. Provide monthly support to the asset manager with park-specific reports and data transfers.Conduct reliability and power curve tests for newly operational sites, ensuring they meet performance expectations.Perform End of Warranty Analyses, Reviews, and Reporting in accordance with the specific requirements of different sites.Collaborate with the Asset Integrity team to provide comprehensive data collection and analysis during wind turbine inspections.Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a scientific subject, physics, engineering, and/or mathematical studies.Comprehensive technical understanding of WTG mechanical and electrical systems, root cause analysis, reliability engineering, fault analysis, turbine availability, performance, and efficiency improvements.High proficiency in critical analysis and problem resolution; equipped to handle voluminous data, conduct statistical inquiries, and establish well-founded, reproducible answers to convoluted questions.More than 8 years of experience in a similar position in a wind industry company.Knowledge of wind farm operations and wind farm SCADA systems.Expertise in Python programming.Commercial awareness, specifically the impact of turbine performance and technical decisions on the overall project economics.Excellent communication, teamwork, time management, and organizational skills.Fluency in written and spoken English.Additional Preferred Qualifications: Experience with statistical analysis software such as R.Experience with cloud-based computing platforms such as Azure and Databricks.
