You deliver best-in-class documentation that makes it easy for system integrators and developers to adopt, extend, and build with our software for optimum performance. We know that high-quality documentation is a hallmark of mature product development. We're looking for someone to take responsibility for collaborating with product squads to plan, write, review, and improve our technical documentation.
What you'll doThe R&D Department is a multidisciplinary team of experienced and highly skilled software developers, test engineers, UX designers, technical writers, product managers, and support engineers. Working within a value stream, and as part of our broader Technical Writing Guild, you proactively source information to document an area of our evolving product landscape. While adding new features and functionalities to our software creates a great user experience, you have a major impact in assuring that these solutions are easy to implement and configure for our internal and external clients. The complexity and nature of the product, combined with the latest technology trends, makes working in documentation at Backbase challenging and rewarding.
Collaborate with product squads to plan, write, review, and improve documentation on an ongoing basis.Participate in the wider Technical Writing Guild, working with other technical writers to achieve guild OKRs on a quarterly basis.Create a documentation strategy together with product team members within your dedicated product area – you must build a common understanding of the different audiences that your documentation serves, what content they need, and how you are going to structure pages to convey this information.Optimally produce use case-based documentation to explain, instruct, and guide in the successful use of our products.Who you areIn order to really excel in this role, we believe you will need the following:
An ability to think strategically about the architecture of the documentation in relation to the product portfolio.A deep understanding of the audiences of your product area and how the products are used by different stakeholders.Excellent writing skills, with a keen interest in user feedback and ongoing quality improvement.An ability to use data and insights to make formal decisions about content and advocate for best content practices with stakeholders.Good time management and organization skills, with an ability to prioritize competing demands.Experience writing technical content in the context of a complex product suite, as well as documenting REST APIs, services, and code examples. You can quickly grasp technical concepts and ask the right questions.Experience working with markup languages such as Asciidoc and Markdown, using version control systems such as Git and GitHub, and following a Docs-as-Code approach.
