Join AstraZeneca, a global, science-driven biopharmaceutical company dedicated to discovering, developing, and delivering innovative, meaningful medicines and healthcare solutions. We are expanding our Oncology Bioinformatics team and are seeking a talented and motivated bioinformatician with strong expertise in single-cell transcriptomics. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of our drug portfolio and work on cutting-edge single-cell methodologies.Accountabilities:As a Senior Scientist, you will contribute to the development and application of standardised single-cell computational approaches with clinical cross-portfolio application. You will design and apply innovative computational/statistical algorithms and visualizations to generate actionable biological insight from single-cell data. You will also work as part of our drug project science teams to contribute to the progression of new medicines through the clinic. Additionally, you will collaborate with industry and academia, publish your work in high-impact journals, and engage in knowledge sharing and peer support.Essential Skills/Experience:Relevant PhD (or equivalent graduate degree plus proven applied experience) in bioinformatics, computational biology, machine learning, mathematical modelling, data science or knowledge engineering.Hands-on experience in computational single-cell analysis.Expertise in the analysis of large-scale multi-modal single-cell data.Experience with methods for building cross-study single-cell references.Expertise in quantification and interpretation of gene signatures associated with treatment response.Knowledge of statistical principles applicable to cancer biology.R and/or Python programming and visualisation expertise.Skilled in effective communication of complex data to a non-expert.Desirable Skills/Experience:Expertise on probabilistic models for single-cell omics analysis.Experience with machine learning, graph modelling, artificial intelligence, Bayesian analytics, or other non-traditional approaches to model biological data.Proficiency analysing and interpreting data from multiple 'omic platforms (NGS sequencing, transcriptomic, epigenetic, proteomic etc.).Knowledge of cancer genetics and/or immunology.Expertise in the development of novel statistical approaches for the analysis of biological data. When we put unexpected teams in the same room, we unleash bold thinking with the power to inspire life-changing medicines. In-person working gives us the platform we need to connect, work at pace and challenge perceptions. That's why we work, on average, a minimum of three days per week from the office. But that doesn't mean we're not flexible. We balance the expectation of being in the office while respecting individual flexibility. Join us in our unique and ambitious world. At AstraZeneca, we follow the science and pioneer new frontiers. Our Oncology R&D team is dedicated to eliminating cancer as a cause of death.
