Aetion is headquartered in the US and has expanded throughout Europe with a Research and Development Hub in Barcelona.Aetion and Aetion's leadership are recipients of several prestigious awards:Daily in-office lunch stipend (and a fully stocked kitchen)Sabbatical opportunity after five years of employmentCommitment to professional development opportunitiesEmployee-led initiatives including annual company-wide innovation day & DEI resource groupsComprehensive private health coverage w/ out-of-network reimbursements optionsPeer & company recognition programsMonthly educational lunch & learnsDESCRIPTION:As a Senior Scientist, you will apply epidemiological methods to deliver scientific studies (descriptive, comparative, effectiveness, adherence and others) using RWE to help our customers create impactful evidence.RESPONSIBILITIES:Serve as study lead throughout the lifecycle of client-facing RWE studies including:Study planningStudy executionReview and interpretation of study resultsLead discussions with clients to solidify study design decisions and interpret results with guidance from senior science colleaguesDevelop high-quality study materials & deliverables with guidance from senior scientific colleaguesServe as the day to day client facing contact for given RWE study; Serve as primary presenter of content and facilitator of discussions at client facing meetings with significant guidance from senior science colleaguesWork with customers and Aetion teammates to create and implement detailed protocols for scientific use cases and scientific validation studiesContribute to the development and maintenance of Aetion's scientific assets such as study templates and quality processes, library of clinical phenotypes/algorithms, best practice documents, and other deployable scientific components, and (as applicable) contribute to Center of Excellence knowledge baseContribute to external thought leadership including submission of conference abstracts, authorship of manuscripts.Career growth opportunities will also include additional responsibilities in leadership, process development, team mentoring, and recruiting.QUALIFICATIONS:Basic Qualifications:MPH, MS in epidemiology, biostatistics, health services research, health economics or a related quantitative field (e.g. applied mathematics) and 2+ years of experience in a quantitative area within a healthcare or medical products organization, preferably client-facingPreferred Qualifications:Experience conducting analytics with secondary data sourcesGood understanding of analytic approaches, analytical and software tools (eg, R, Aetion Evidence Platform), and computing environmentsSubstantial experience working with at least 1 type of healthcare databases relevant to pharmacoepidemiology/HEORFamiliarity with principles of feasibility assessment, observational study design and data analysisWorking knowledge of study design and analytic methods, and/or working knowledge of research methodology and statistical methodsAbility to draw insights from the scientific results; highlight strengths and limitations and impact of the limitations in written documents; communicate the interpretation of results to the clientGood ability to effectively communicate verbally and in written form, including interpretation of statistical findings; and present findings on the context of the research objectivesAbility to engage with customers in-person, on the phone, and in writing.Experience in cross-functional teams and decision makingAbility to self-motivateDemonstrated ability to collaborate and successfully work with internal staff and external partners
