Context And MissionELIXIR (European Life Science Infrastructure for Biological Information) is a pan-European organization aiming to integrate and harmonize European bioinformatics infrastructures. The INB is responsible for the bioinformatics infrastructure offered by Spain and ensures alignment with ELIXIR's strategic areas.
Key DutiesShare responsibilities on flagship projects like the European Genomic Data Infrastructure (GDI) and the EUropean federation for CAncer IMages (EUCAIM).Develop, document, and maintain software for the integration of biological data following ELIXIR guidelines.Participate in relevant technical activities within ELIXIR platforms, communities, and focus groups.Contribute to supervising junior members at the INB/ELIXIR-ES units.RequirementsEducationBSc or MSc in bioinformatics, computational biology, or computer sciences with significant bioinformatics experience.Essential Knowledge and Professional ExperienceAt least 3 years of professional experience in a similar role.Experience with software life cycle involving repositories, continuous integration, and public releases.Experience in cloud deployments.Experience in data management APIs and common bioinformatics data sources and formats.Experience in query building and optimization in SQL and NoSQL ecosystems.Experience with advanced software packaging procedures.At least 3 years of experience in one programming language ecosystem (C++, Perl, Python, PHP, Java).Experience working with Unix/Linux systems.Experience in data management and developing project technical specifications.Additional Knowledge and Professional ExperienceExperience in software container technology (docker, singularity/apptainer).Experience in software infrastructure deployment techniques (docker compose, Kubernetes, Ansible).Experience in scientific workflow engines (Galaxy, Nextflow).Fluency in English written and spoken; basic knowledge of Spanish.CompetencesAbility to understand scientific literature and software documentation.Ability to communicate scientific results.Ability to work independently and under pressure.ConditionsFull-time contract (37.5h/week), flexible working hours, private health insurance, and support for relocation procedures.Open-ended contract linked to project and budget duration.23 paid vacation days plus additional holidays per collective agreement.Competitive salary based on qualifications and experience.Applications procedure and processAll applications must be made through the BSC website and include a Cover Letter in English, with two contacts for references.
