Role Purpose
We are looking for a Senior Research Analyst to join Wood Mackenzie's Power and Renewables team in Madrid. The Power and Renewables research team provides integrated subscription, research and advisory services to inform and support our client's commercial and strategic decisions in the complex and rapidly changing electric power industry.
The Senior Research Analyst will be responsible for analysis of onshore and offshore wind energy markets in Southern Europe, focusing on analysis of wind market demand side developments. Key responsibilities of the role will include writing reports, aggregating and summarising project-level datasets, analyzing policy developments in the region, communicating with key industry stakeholders, tracking wind market activity and forecasting installation volumes and pricing trends.
The analyst will work closely with other analysts across the team to ensure the timely and accurate provision of all relevant data.
They will be expected to conduct original quantitative and qualitative research on the market and deliver analysis through written reports, public speaking, addressing customer inquiries and consulting projects. The regional analyst will also be expected to correspond with, present to, and advise main stakeholders within the wind industry on analysis regarding the wind power landscape and general market dynamics.
Main Responsibilities
Create, monitor and maintain relevant wind data for the region by conducting primary and secondary desk research on wind power in Southern Europe, including market dynamics, business models, market developments and financial strategies.
Own and be the project leader on regional and global wind databases and analytical models such as: Global Wind Turbine Order Database; Wind Asset Transactions Database; Wind Power Company Financials Database; Wind Power Project Installation Database.
Implement sophisticated database systems with user-friendly extraction tools to improve the efficiency of ongoing research activities.
Contribute to the global quarterly wind power market outlook by producing the annual installation forecast over a 10-year period.
Liaise on an ongoing basis with the regional lead analysts and the broader Power & Renewables team to ensure the timely and accurate provision of all relevant data for all wind research publications.
Collaborate with other analysts globally to produce and publish the global wind products the analyst will be responsible for on a timely fashion and with accurate data.
Collaborate with LENS team to provide all necessary data in the format required and according to the project's timeline.
Support global LCoE research efforts with input from the Southern Europe wind market.
Establish and maintain a robust network within the regional wind industry.
Support specific consulting assignments related to wind power in Southern Europe as needed.
Support organic business development and sales.
About You
You have an analytical mindset and an eye for detail, which has been proven in your work experience to date, therefore you are comfortable processing large amounts of information from a myriad of sources, is able to develop robust analytical models and have overall strong data management and modelling skill in a variety of platforms.
You are a natural self-starter who can work independently and generate the ideas you want to share by leveraging and expanding your industry network. You are comfortable disrupting your routine as you will be constantly looking to learn and innovative ways to obtain the information and data needed for a high-quality market analysis.
It is preferred that the candidate have proven data management experience, and a background in the wind industry.
