.Engineer, Sr. II - Manufacturing (Quality) LOCATION: Asheville, North Carolina POSITION SUMMARY: To provide quality support to the assigned production operations to ensure the integrity of components and products produced by those operations.
Aggressively drive site quality improvement efforts with a goal of achieving "zero defect" performance.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Responsible for execution of the Quality parameters of the PDP for New Product Introduction and Qualification, including the development and documentation of quality plans on new products and those similar to existing products in production.
Identify and interpret customer's quality requirements and/or any regulatory/business requirements and translate to effective documented and implemented business practices.
Act as technical liaison during prototype phases on supplier component development – assisting suppliers with measurement system correlation exercises and with resolution of nonconformances.
Oversee integrity of product quality for assigned area through participation as integral part of manufacturing team.
Take responsibility for driving quality deliverables & results.
Build credibility with internal and external customers.
Results for this position will be measured through Launch Performance and Customer Satisfaction.
Utilize rigorous problem-solving methods to realize effective root cause analysis and implement timely and real solutions.
Apply knowledge of Inspection Equipment and Techniques to provide timely data usable for informed decision-making.
Support the role quality plays in the overall success of the business and set priorities relative to the business plan.
Maintain focus on what is important and drive for results.
Participate as an effective team player and provide effective customer service that is timely and accurate.
Seek out opportunities for improvement and adhere to current quality, health, safety, and environmental policies.
Communicate and enforce safe work procedures, identifying and closing safety issues.
Perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Requires a four-year degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering; and a minimum of 8 years Manufacturing Engineering / Quality Assurance experience in a metalworking environment.
Must have demonstrated knowledge of advanced quality planning, inspection equipment and techniques, root cause failure analysis, capability studies, statistical distributions, machine (metalworking) and assembly processes, problem solving, team facilitation, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and presentation skills.
Knowledge of ISO and IATF required.
Knowledge of UL is a plus.
Electrical Engineering degree or experience is a plus.
Experience with Supplier Development is a plus.
Experience with report writing in Microsoft Word and graphical analysis in Microsoft Excel required.
Experience in Minitab for statistical analysis required.
ASQ Certification is a plus
