The Senior PSA Engineer for External Events - Spain will join a growing multidisciplinary team of designers and engineers designing the SMR-300 small modular reactor, an unfailingly safe and secure source of clean energy using nuclear fission.
The SMR-300 is designed to rely on passively designed systems inside containment to maintain the reactor in a safe shutdown condition without reliance on operator actions.
This "walk away safe" design is ideally sized for significant small power plant markets needing to replace carbon-emitting generation with safe, clean load-following generation and to integrate with grids containing high variable renewable capacity.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting internal and external events probabilistic safety analysis evaluations of the SMR-300 plant throughout its design and construction phases.
The PSA Engineer for External Events will work alongside engineers, designers, and analysts in a dynamic development environment.
Key responsibilities include: Participating in the daily activities of the multinational PSA team.
Ensuring continued technical communication/information exchange between various PSA task leaders during the development of external events PSA for the SMR plant.
Performing external events analyses, including the development of supporting databases such as FRANX, hazard curves for the events of interest, fault tree modeling, quantification, and determination of risk significance for SSCs credited in the external events PSA.
