The Senior Project OHS Advisor will be responsible for the coordination and administration of OH&S program activities and projects to support business objectives. Working with a team of OH&S Advisors, the incumbent will continuously monitor and support the improvement of OH&S performance through communication and implementation of corrective action for identified risks. The incumbent manages the implementation of company safety programs, policies, and procedures while partnering with stakeholders to ensure compliance and provide day-to-day leadership in the continued building of a strong culture of care. Provides honest, objective feedback to management regarding achievements and opportunities of safety standards, policies, and procedures.

Position: Senior Project OHS Advisor
Term: Full Time, Permanent
Location: Downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Start Date: August 2024
Job Responsibilities:
• Actively support preventative injury initiatives, focusing on SIF's (Serious Injury or Fatality).
• Provide leadership, coaching, teaching, and mentoring.
• Coordinate the Health and Safety Management System to meet company day-to-day safety policies and delivery of training activities for employees.
• Coordinate communications of occupational hazards and risks to both managers and the workforce.
• Assist with the design of standards, programs, and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent disease or injury.
• Work with OHS Advisors to develop safety procedures and ensure implementation.
• Implement audits and inspections that validate adherence to company policy and laws.
• Participate in the investigation of serious incidents and injuries.
• Advise on compliance matters and interact with stakeholders regarding municipal, provincial, and federal agencies.
• Implement compliance processes related to assessments and surveys.
• Provide subject matter expertise and develop practical solutions to resolve safety issues.
• Develop and deliver safety training materials.
• Prepare and maintain internal and external reports.
• Lead and support Human Performance investigations and develop corrective actions.
• Actively participate in the corporate safety network and help develop corporate standards.
Requirements:
• Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma with a minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a similar role.
• Rail experience is an asset.
• Develop comprehensive safety plans and procedures.
• Sound knowledge of large construction projects.
• Ensure safety protocols align with the company Health and Safety Management System.
• Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards.
• Lead investigations into safety-related events.
• Ensure timely reporting of incidents.
• Stay current on regulatory changes and best practices.
• Demonstrated knowledge of local, provincial, and federal laws.
• Ability to be responsive and persuasive at all levels.
• Effective communication and analytical skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
• Strong customer focus and sense of urgency.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to coach employees and management.
• Perform work safely and effectively.
• Team player comfortable with collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Strong computer skills in a Microsoft Office environment.
• Valid Driver's License (Class G or equivalent).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
