Siemens Mobility Spain would like to get onboard a Project Execution Quantity Surveyor / Contract Engineer.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Planner with extensive expertise in Primavera P6 to join our Projects Execution team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading and managing the planning and scheduling activities for complex railway projects, ensuring that all project milestones are met on time and within budget. The Senior Planner will work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop, maintain, and optimize project schedules, and will provide critical insights to drive the successful delivery of projects.
This individual will be working across international projects based out of Tres Cantos - Madrid, Spain and will need to travel to site if required by the Project.
Key Responsibilities: Work independently to contact relevant stakeholders both locally and in our Regional Units around the world, and if appropriate Consortium partners, Subcontractors, Suppliers and Clients to ensure the integrity of the schedule and that the current project status is mapped in the schedule.
Analyze, review, and create schedules including baseline schedules and accompanying narratives according to industry best practices and advise of issues and implement mitigation actions for the best interest of Siemens.
Cost and resource load schedules.
Read Contract requirements applicable to scheduling and implement them or review their implementation in existing projects.
Carry out a delay analysis to pinpoint the reason for delays and work with the team to employ industry-standard methods such as Time Impact Analysis to request extensions of time.
Adapt and create WBS templates to the specific needs of the project considering the requirements applicable, deliverables, internal processes and guidance from the Siemens Project management and Engineering teams.
Be an expert in using schedule management methods and tools (especially Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project). Properly initiate escalation measures where binding regulations for schedule management are not adhered to.
Develop schedule management and structure, taking the project requirements into account (e.g. structuring, data integration, reporting, etc.) and considering the common schedule management regulations set by the process owner.
Define reporting intervals for update and schedule management and carry out the reporting.
Identify project deadlines in call to tender and contract documents in collaboration with the project managers and specialist functions.
Develop individual schedules and integrate them into an overall schedule including representation of the critical path.
Record and coordinate relevant internal and external schedule interfaces, taking into account any contractual requirements in the schedule.
Regulate schedules with regular monitoring of deadline compliance, project progress and updating the schedule in good time.
Prepare schedule analyses (scenarios, critical path, buffers, etc.) and devise possible solutions in cases of any delay in the project together with the project and specialist functions.
Properly initiate escalation measures where schedule/forecast/actual deadline non-conformities occur.
Prepare reports to support projects and specialist departments with schedule management.
Participate in project meetings, discussions with internal and external partners (customers, consortium partners, suppliers, other units within Siemens, etc.).
Regularly back up schedules and file in accordance with project requirements and relevant guidelines.
Support the relevant managers with resource management.
Provide support with preparing financial forecasts.
Provide support with assessing and providing evidence on claims against third parties.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior planners and other team members.
Conduct training sessions on Primavera P6 and best practices in project scheduling.
Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in project planning and scheduling, with at least 5 years of experience using Primavera P6. Proven track record of managing complex projects in industries such as construction, engineering, energy, or infrastructure. Railway experience is a plus but not essential.
Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project. Strong understanding of project management principles, including scope, time, cost, quality, risk, and resource management. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Soft Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Leadership skills with the ability to mentor and train junior staff.
Additional Requirements: PMP or PMI-SP certification is preferred.
