Job Description: As a Senior Materials Scientist at Supernova, you will lead the formulation of UV-curable materials, vital for our VLM technology. You'll spearhead the development of new resins, applying your extensive knowledge in chemistry to create innovative solutions. Your role involves conducting detailed characterization studies to understand and improve material properties like strength, flexibility, and curing speed. You will be the driving force behind material advancements, ensuring our products meet the highest standards of quality and performance.
A significant part of your role will be to collaborate closely with engineering colleagues. You'll work hand-in-hand with the rest of the Material team colleagues, as well as with Mechanical and Process peers from the Engineering team, ensuring that the materials you develop are seamlessly integrated into our printing systems. Your expertise will guide all the technical teams in optimizing printer performance and achieving the best possible results with the materials you develop.
Key Responsibilities: Develop and optimize industrial-grade UV-curable materials for 3D printing applications.
Perform state-of-the-art research on the field of UV-curable materials.
Conduct rigorous laboratory experiments to evaluate new resin formulations.
Analyze and characterize material properties to ensure optimal performance and quality.
Collaborate with the definition and implementation of laboratory best-practices and H&S protocols.
Collaborate with R&D teams to integrate new materials with printing systems.
Lead initiatives to improve material properties, such as durability, flexibility, and curing speed.
Qualifications: Ph.D. in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or a related field, with a focus on UV-curable materials.
Extensive lab experience in formulating and testing UV-curable resins.
Deep understanding of photopolymerization processes and material characterization techniques.
Proven track record of innovative research in material science.
Strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic R&D environment.
Fluent in English, both in technical communication and documentation.
