Sololearn is seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial-minded Sr. Engineering Manager to join our team and work alongside talented engineers who work hard to change the lives of our learners.
As a Sr. Engineering Manager, you'll support a mix of managers and engineers in their technical, managerial and personal development.
You will act as their primary point of contact, providing them regular feedback and guidance.
You will care deeply about the leaders and developers in your team, coaching them on areas for development, celebrating their achievements and recognising their strengths.
You will also coach and offer support to less experienced people managers to help them develop.
You will ensure key metrics are monitored for operational excellence, evaluating and determining the right amount of time to spend on technical debt and operational maintenance.
You should champion the importance of impactful delivery in your team.
You will identify bottlenecks, suggest resolutions and collaborate with other teams.
You will insist on the highest standards to support your team in delivering high-quality products, services and integrations at pace for our learners.
To work with us means to own the following responsibilities:
Take responsibility for a group of several Engineering cross-functional teams whose members have a wide range of experience, to drive the technical strategy.Be the line manager of other managers and engineers, looking after their performance, morale and career development through leading by example and mentoring.Work with teams to identify bottlenecks and improve the pace of delivery while maintaining high-quality standards.Organize the work, and how the team organizes to do this work.Coordinate and communicate across stakeholders that span several functional areas, including designers, product managers, engineers and customer business stakeholders to drive projects, define priorities and resolve dependencies.Encourage a data-driven mindset among the engineers to understand and care about the important analytics of their components and systems, defining key metrics to be monitored.Drive and uphold high engineering standards, bringing consistency to the codebases you encounter and ensuring software is adequately reviewed, tested and integrated.Assess new ways of working - new technologies and new practices.
Encourage your team to experiment in the spirit of continuous improvement.Be responsible for conducting one-to-ones, performance reviews, hiring and training. We want you to feel challenged, yet comfortable at Sololearn.

Must have: Previous experience leading several engineering teams.A track record of attracting, hiring and retaining top engineering talent.Experience in defining and improving software processes in the industry.Experience making trade-offs focusing on things that matter most to our users building solutions that scale and solve business needs.Proven ability to learn new languages and technologies, and lead others in acquiring new skills.Written and verbal English communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences, both technical and non-technical.
