15+ years of relevant public policy and advocacy experience, e.g., within corporate public policy and government relations, in public administration, law firm, trade associations or non-governmental organizations.
- A keen working understanding of policy-making processes and government relations, particularly as they relate to sustainability policy.
- Written and spoken fluency in English and proficiency in relevant European language.

The Senior Manager for Public Policy - Circular Economy (EU) will join a growing and dynamic team that works across Europe, Middle East, Africa, India and Asia Pacific, in support of Amazon's global consumer and digital businesses.

The International Public Policy team works with a wide range of national, local, and supranational policymakers, industry organisations, and non-governmental organisations across policy issues spanning the consumer and commercial environment, including but not limited to sustainability, digital policy, consumer policy, economic policy, privacy, intellectual property, logistics and tax policy.

Description The Sr.
Manager Public Policy - Circular Economy is a senior level position that plays a critical role in driving Amazon's efforts to advance the circular economy and achieve the Climate Pledge, Amazon's commitment to achieve Net Zero carbon by 2040.
In this role, you will serve as the public policy lead on key issues relating to the circular economy in the EU, including but not limited to recycling, packaging, devices, waste/e-waste, product design and sustainable products.
You will ensure that Amazon can proactively shape and respond to key policy initiatives in the EU.
You will play a leading role in building and sustaining relationships with senior policymakers and lead internal coordination with policy staff and business leaders across the region.
You will develop and help implement strategic engagement strategies with EU policymaking bodies, develop external coalitions to scale-up progress towards our sustainability goals and initiate public-private partnerships where we have opportunities to collaborate with the public sector.
This role is a leading member of a policy team Amazon is building in Europe to respond to the opportunities offered by the European Green Deal and to support our country teams in Member States as we seek to shape public policy in support of Amazon's sustainability goals.
- An advanced degree in a relevant area of study (such as public policy, law, economics, business).
- Experience working at high level and collaboratively in a highly-matrixed environment, alongside teams including Legal, Public Relations and business teams.
- Demonstrated knowledge of EU policymaking progress and institutions and a track record of success in developing advocacy campaigns and public policy engagement in the EU context.
- Strong knowledge of the European Green Deal, EU Climate Policy and related initiatives under the Circular Economy Action Plan.
- Outstanding oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- A self-starter who can take general direction and produce specific results.
- Able to coordinate a wide array of internal and external resources to obtain, process, and operationalize information and strategy.
- Strong judgment and decision-making skills.
- Comfort working in conditions of high ambiguity.
