The Global Sports team is a key team within the newly created Global Content team, which also includes specialist teams across Entertainment, Gaming, Music, and Lifestyle & Education. Sport is a major vertical on TikTok comprising official content from leagues, federations, clubs, and athletes, as well as amazing content related to sport coming from our community of users and creators.
The Global Sports team will seek to build key initiatives and partnerships with all constituent parts of our ecosystem to drive increased engagement, both viewing and creation, positive perceptions of TikTok, interest in new/strategic functionality, and revenue. Each Global team has three key disciplines within it - Business Development, Partner Management, and Program Management. These three teams work seamlessly together in pursuit of the company objectives and also collaborate with the other Global Verticals and the regional sports teams across the globe.
The Business Development function within the Sports team is responsible for a range of business activities that aim at driving growth and usage of our app as well as evaluating new opportunities and mitigating business risks. We are responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and executing strategic partnerships across the world of sport, as well as interacting and negotiating with industry partners and driving long-term value.
This is a strategic function, and applicants should also be comfortable presenting data-driven recommendations and presentations to senior leadership to inform critical business decisions.
Identify potential partners and initiatives in the sports content vertical based on product goals and EU market needs and build related relationships.Develop strategy around pathways to partnership aligned to business needs globally.Oversee and lead partnership negotiation, implementation, and evaluation in collaboration with Product, Operations, Marketing, and other cross-functional teams.Provide market and partner intelligence to help strategic decision making.Lead in the above areas across a large, geographically distributed organization through escalations and communicating to key internal and external stakeholders.Qualifications Experience in business development in the sport industry or within a sports team at a digital platform.Fluent in English (Spanish or French is a plus).Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, critical thinker, and problem solver.Experience with the design and implementation of business development strategy.Broad international connections in the content space (sports).Comfortable rationalizing and justifying decisions made and processes implemented, yet flexible with switching direction if conditions dictate.Excellent communicator, very analytical, detail-oriented, and possesses the ability to build strong cross-functional relationships with a positive and can-do attitude.Passion for short-form video platforms would be a strong plus.Comfortable working in a very fast-paced environment and with multiple time zones.Role can be based in Spain, France, UK, or Germany.
