As a Senior Legal Counsel, you provide advice, guidance, and representation related to employment laws and regulations. You partner with relevant stakeholders to ensure that the company is compliant with relevant employment law and regulations and company policy. You handle all labor relations and employment negotiations, grievance procedures and disputes in-house, including cases in court, arbitration, and agency hearings.
Your tasks:
Provide legal advice about legal rights and obligations in the context of employment like hiring practices, wage disputes, discrimination claims, workplace safety regulations, and termination procedures.
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and other legal documents such as employment contracts, non-disclosure agreements, severance agreements, and company policy documents.
Support the organization to be compliant with relevant employment laws and regulations by collaborating on the creation or review of policies and procedures, conducting audits, and providing relevant training to leaders and team members.
Support the resolution of moderate to high risk disputes and grievance procedures between employers and employees through negotiation or litigation.
Represent the organization in court, arbitration or hearings before regulatory bodies, presenting evidence, making legal arguments, and navigating procedural rules for low risk matters in the location where you are licensed to practice.
Support media escalations related to labor relations, employment, and litigation.
Provide support, focusing on customers.
Your profile:
7+ years of experience in legal roles related to employment laws and regulations.
Law degree from an accredited law school.
Bar license is required.
C1 oral and written English.
Expert knowledge in law including legal code, government regulations, precedents, and political processes.
Expert ability to analyze large amounts of information, identifying relevant facts, and propose viable solutions.
Expert ability to articulate complex legal concepts and strategies in a clear, concise, and persuasive manner, both orally and in writing.
Expert litigation skills.
Ability to act independently with little to no supervision/oversight.
Ability to solve complex problems using sophisticated thought, exercise judgment, and identify innovative solutions.
Expert senior stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
